Pasadena family-owned business loses trailer, but gets it back after internet sleuths come together!

Pasadena, Texas (KTRK) – Thieves targeted small business owners Sunday night and stole a trailer they rely on to make deliveries. However, security camera footage, social media, and a good Samaritan helped make sure they didn’t lose their gear for too long.

The Castillos own a party rental company, but Mondays were supposed to be all about their daughter.

They planned to drop her in San Marcos in her freshman year of college. This was their main focus, until they woke up that morning and saw that their trailer was missing. They posted a video of what happened online, and the community came for them.

“I know everyone has opened their eyes and ears,” said Rebecca Castillo, one of the owners of the jumping area.

Thanks to CCTV footage, people in Pasadena knew exactly what to watch out for.

The video was taken by two people. One of the men brought in equipment that pierces the chains and locks of the trailer. Then, within about two minutes, they got him into their white SUV and took off.

“Our trailer is our vehicle for all of our shipments, all of our orders,” Castillo said.

They called the police, but she said they posted the video online and asked for help from the community. No one has been able to identify the thieves, yet, but someone has discovered their trailer. It was abandoned on the street.

“This was very shocking to us, but we are so happy now that a good Samaritan called and told us they saw him on the street. We were able to get the HPD there right away. They can stand there so we can figure out how to get it where we need it.”

Castillo spoke with ABC13 as they returned from dropping their daughter off to school. Fortunately, they managed to make it happen and then went back to collect their trailer. The police are still trying to track down the thieves.

There was no equipment inside. Castillos only have to worry about replacing a punctured tire and curved rim.
