Shazam! 2 The Director Reveals Why Mr. Mind Was Cut From The Sequel

After years of work, Shazam! wrath of the gods It’s set to hit theaters next spring, continuing the legends of the powerful DC family. While teasers and trailers for the film have hinted at some clever explorations of magical legends, there are still some plot threads for the first. Shazam! Left unexplored, including the subsequent sting for the credits introducing Mr. Mayme. In a recent Q&A on his Instagram, director David F. Sandberg revealed that Mr. Mind would not appear in the sequel, because including him would have been “too much movie”.

Shazam! wrath of the gods It stars Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as Billy Batson/Shazam!, Grace Fulton as Mary Broomfield, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Faithy Herman as Darla Dudley, Megan Judd as Super Hero Darla, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Ross Butler as superhero Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro Pena, DJ Cutrona as Super Hero Pedro, Marta Millans as Rosa Vasquez, and Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez. New cast members also include Rachel Ziegler in a currently unknown role, Helen Mirren as Hespera, and Lucy Liu as Calypso.

“I loved the first Shazam Film,” producer Peter Safran explained in an interview with collider earlier this year. “I thought it was beautifully done. I thought David Sandberg nailed that tone very well. The eye of the needle was too small to get it right, but he really did. I feel like this second one has more emotion, more humor, but it also has movement Bigger, bigger set, some great villains. I just feel like it’s everything we loved in the first movie but we’re 11 years old. So I love it.”

“I think adding some of these new characters with Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu are great releases,” Safran continued. “I love that all the kids are a little bit older now so we’re going to have more fun in a more intense way with them. Zach is inhabiting this character in a beautiful way. So I was able to make the second of those, it’s exciting.”
