Houston, Texas (KTRK) – It is a sad day for Harris County 3 MPs and family members as the MP who was shot while driving home with dinner for his family will be buried in Atascocita.
Deputy Constable Omar Orsen was off duty when he was shot and killed while dining for his family 11 days ago.
Investigators still do not have any suspects in custody or know the motive, leaving Omar’s family without any closure as they prepare to put him to rest.
The veteran, who has worked in the administration for six years, was driving home around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, when he was shot and killed at the Madeira Run Parkway near Groves Elementary School, officials said.
They say a black or dark four-door sedan with tinted windows was pulled next to him and shot at the driver’s side door.
His mother, Yvonne Orsen, says this is a huge loss for their family and they are trying their best to figure out how to move forward.

“We celebrated my son’s 37th birthday Friday night at Taste of Texas. He sat on one end of the table and his dad was on the other. We had a great time,” Yvonne said. “In no way did I think I would celebrate my child’s last birthday.”
The deputy’s mother said he left behind a wife and 7-year-old daughter.
Omar’s public presentation will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Inspire Chapel. Services will start at 11 o’clock.
Yvonne said people help out financially through a GoFundMeand even telling the family everything they know about what happened.
“I really appreciate them,” she said, “because a lot of times people don’t like to be involved. But they come in and say what they’ve seen and what they can do.”
