There’s never a bad time to visit a Disneyland resort, but for some, there’s no better time than Halloween. While the holiday may technically be two months away, Halloween Time is underway at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, and even if you’re not able to score Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, there are plenty of themed entertainment, attractions, and food festivals available to enjoy. Nobody does Halloween quite like Disneyland.
If you haven’t tested A Halloween season at Disneyland ResortThere is much to recommend a visit now. There are shows and attractions that are not available at any other time of the year, and some attractions undergo a facelift and become almost entirely new experiences. Although it’s hard to recommend this year’s festivities if you’ve been to the Disneyland Resort for Halloween recently.
Disneyland has a lot of events for Halloween
The centerpiece of any Disneyland trip is the attractions, and there are many things specifically worth visiting during Halloween Time. The Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular Disneyland attractions any time of year, but once the Halloween season starts, and extends through Christmas, the ride becomes your go-to. Nightmare Before Christmas– Haunted mansion holiday. Not everyone likes the Halloween version of the haunted mansionBut it is a must if you haven’t tried it before.
The other major change to the ride occurs at Disney California Adventure, but only during certain hours. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout, is the same flight as when the park opens, but at 3pm until the park closes, The journey turns to Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark. This version of the ride is essentially a sequel to the main ride, which sees some of the collector’s scariest elements escape, and come after guests. For those looking for a real Halloween scare, there is nothing better.
Radiator Springs is also transforming into Radiator Screams, with some solid Halloween decorations, and two of the land’s smaller attractions, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rolickin’ Roadsters, are given Halloween overlays with new themed music.
Besides the Halloween-themed events, some events are dedicated to Dia de los Muertos. You’ll find a musical celebration of Coco at Disney’s California Adventures, and at Frontierland Disneyland you’ll find a small show near where you can get pictures incantoMirabel celebrates the Mexican holiday.
No trip to Disneyland is complete without a great night out, and there is, of course, a special trip to the park. Jack Skellington hosts the Halloween Screams fireworks show and includes projection map effects on Sleeping Beauty Castle, as well as Main Street in the USA.
Regular Disneyland visitors have seen (almost) it all before
If you’re visiting Disneyland Resort for the first time during Halloween, or at least for the first time in a long time, there’s plenty to enjoy here. However, for the average guest, it must be said that we did I’ve seen almost all this before from Disneyland. Almost every significant component of Halloween Time has shown its face in previous years. If you especially love items that only appear this time of year, that’s great, but there won’t be much that will amaze you this year because you’ve seen them.
Most of the really new stuff, like the looks of unique characters like Ernesto de la Cruz or Mother Gothel, that we don’t normally see, are Only available as part of Oogie Boogie Bash. If you weren’t lucky enough to get tickets months ago, you’re out of luck, as the entire event is sold out.
Disney parks are built on nostalgiaAnd so for some, seeing things they’ve seen before is part of the fun of it all. Part of the problem is that many of the special Halloween-themed items are new enough that they don’t feel nostalgic yet, but are old enough that they no longer feel like new.
What’s Actually New for Halloween at Disneyland Resort in 2022
That doesn’t mean there’s absolutely nothing new about Disneyland’s Halloween Time. There are some things worth checking out that you haven’t tried before. First and foremost, your favorite Disney characters, such as Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, are all dressed up in brand-new Halloween costumes for the occasion. It’s a great looking outfit so if you’re the type to take pictures, you’ll want to check it out.
Another important change to Halloween Time this year, especially for those who love the great Disneyland night scenes, but don’t like crowds, is that there will be a version of the Halloween Screams show that takes place during the week, not just on weekends, as was the case in previous years. There won’t be any fireworks at the shows during the week, just the projection layout and music, but that’s still most of the show, and probably the best parts of it.
There are also always new items for Halloween. The Haunted Mansion Holiday has a brand new gingerbread house Sit at the table. This year it features Lock, Shock and Barrel, another cool innovation. For food that you can actually eat, there are plenty of new foods and drinks available to guests, along with some favorites. You can eat your way in Disneyland to get churros with different flavors in each cart if you wish.
As someone who loves Halloween, but doesn’t meddle in it like some people do, I’ve enjoyed wandering the parks, especially at night when Disney California Adventure has Oogie Boogie-inspired drop effects at the front of my cat’s circle, or when the screams of the radiator come to life after sunset. , but I was honestly looking for more that I hadn’t seen before, and there really isn’t much of that.
I still love my time at Disneyland at the start of the Halloween season. It’s hard not to have fun when you’re there, but I hope next year the resort will add a little more to the festivities and really give guests a reason not to miss Halloween.
