Cast members from ‘Frozen,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘black-ish’, plus Chadwick Boseman honored as Disney legends at D23 Expo in Anaheim!

Anaheim, California – Many big stars can now add a ‘legend’ to their resume as the D23 fair kicked off Friday with a special party to honor ‘Disney Legends’.

The late Chadwick Boseman was honored posthumously.

The “Black Panther” star joined this year’s Legend of the Year award as the award was given to someone who has made an extraordinary contribution to Disney’s legacy.

Each of the legends in the ceremony put their handprints in cement as part of the tradition at D23.

This year, there were reunions on the red carpet featuring new legends from ABC’s black-ish, Gray’s Anatomy, and Frozen.

Josh Gad, who plays Olaf in “Frozen,” responded for receiving this honor at a young age.

“I peaked very early,” he said with a laugh.

Actor Patrick Dempsey, who wore blonde hair for his latest role in “Ferrari,” said he was trying to adopt the title of “legend.”

“I don’t think anyone growing up around the world is unaffected by a Disney movie and transmitted or learning anything from telling their story,” Dempsey said. “Being a part of that is great.”

Comedian Anthony Anderson joked that the word “legend” is too big to be “mere mortal.”

His “black-ish” TV wife Tracee Ellis Ross said she didn’t need to be called “Mrs. Legend,” just a legend!

All new honorees have a deep affection for the wonderful world of Disney.

“Disney occupies this special place that is truly about joy and magic and wonder and dream,” Ross said. “In our world today and always there is a great need for it.”

“We are all very fortunate to be able to do what we do,” said “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo. “We love what we do and we should be grateful for that.”

“You know, when you’re a little girl and that’s what you want to do, what you dream about, and Disney teaches you to dream big, and then you stand on stage and accept an award like that, it’s just a beautiful thing,” said Idina Menzel of Frozen.

“I’m trying to internalize it and really think about what Disney means to me in my life, why it allowed me to be who I am and do what I do,” said Jonathan Groff of Frozen.

“It’s kind of hard to be a legend,” Gad said. “I’ll go get a knighthood sometime. If the new king is listening, please call me. I’m ready!”
