In case you haven’t noticed, moviegoers haven’t seen all this much from James Cameron’s upcoming movie Avatar: Water Road. The first shots premiered at CinemaCon 2022 all the way back in April, and while that first look eventually made its way to theaters and the internet, we haven’t actually seen anything of the highly anticipated movie since. As it stands, we actually have no idea when the next trailer for the feature will arrive… but today fans can be nervous, as the hugely groundbreaking trailer was previewed this morning at D23 Expo 2022.
Today’s events in D23 . Gallery Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, and 20th Century Studios’ presentation included inside Hall D23 at the Anaheim Convention Center, while the event was as action-packed as a new clip from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever A first look at screenshots from Indiana Jones 5The big show was finally Avatar: Water Road. With James Cameron of New Zealand teleconferences as the film is being finalized, a total of six clips of the blockbuster movie were shown – the movie’s 3D rendering, some character dynamics, and a taste of the action.
Navi to go swimming
The first syllable of Avatar: Water Road It is clearly included as a 3D rendering that fans will experience along with the groundbreaking movie. Almost without dialogue, the scene shows a group of Na’vi going for a swim in the clear blue waters of Pandora, pretty things. Not only does everything look great and crisp thanks to the combination of a higher frame rate and extra dimensions, but the motion provides a great sense of depth and the illusion of things coming off the screen. As the Na’vi plays in the water, seemingly tangible groups of fish pass through a pair of 3D glasses, which are definitely next-level stuff compared to what we saw 13 years ago.
I don’t really know how this kind of extended sequence will play out in non-3D shows Avatar: Water Roadsince the sequence is definitely more about aesthetics than anything else, but in that sense the preview definitely explained how James Cameron wants viewers to see his new movie.
Who is Keri’s father?
Second Avatar: Water Road The clip moved the action away from the beauty of nature to a scene set in a lab with Kiri – the new young Na’vi character played by Sigourney Weaver. As Keri looks at the avatar of Dr. Grace Augustine (Weaver’s character in the first movie) in a tank and watches an old video of her in human form on a screen, Navi asks another unidentified child who hit her. The first guess is Norm Spellman (Joel David Moore), although that idea clearly disgusts Keri. The debate clearly strikes a chord with Spider (Jack Champion), who suggests that sometimes it’s best not to know who your father is. why? Because the spider appears to be the son of Miles Koaric, the human villain played by Stephen Lang in the previous movie.
Because none of the Avatar: Water Road The clips were made with context that explained how the sequences fit into the full movie, and the relationships between the different characters in the second clip weren’t entirely clear, but it did prove that there were some interesting questions that would be asked in the movie regarding Kerry and Spider’s parents.
Na’vi ambushed
Third Avatar: Water Road The D23 Expo clip was clearly chosen because of the distinctive movement. Only based on the context provided by the scene, it looks like there will be a part in the movie where the children of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Netery (Zoe Saldana) are kidnapped, and the parents carry out a rescue mission. In the middle of the jungle in the pouring rain, the Na’vi heroes move silently and begin the attack. One of the men is lowered with an ax to the back of his head, while Nitteri places herself on a tree to fend off her bow and arrow.
She has to wait for her moment to get the right shot, but when she comes, she takes it, and ends up shooting bad guys in the eye. After this happens, hell breaks loose, guns start shooting, and kids try to fight back. The leader of the group (who may not be Koaric as Na’) sees the feathers on the arrow fired and yells at “Mrs. Sully,” saying they have unfinished business, and mocks her “her half-breed droppings.” When this happens, one of the bad guys shoots Na’ vi to the sky with a gun, but the scene was interrupted before the shooting.
As previously shown, this was a fun scene to evoke what is expected to be the central conflict Avatar: Water Road, but I also found it to be the scene where 3D was a hindrance rather than a help. The action felt oddly juicy instead of as fluid as the previous scenes. I hope it was only the view of the footage, which didn’t allow my eyes to fully adapt to cinematography, 3D, and high frame rate, but it was confusing at the moment.
Jake and Netery fight to protect their family
next one Avatar 2 The clip is apparently set on the heels of the previous clip – where Jake and Netery fight each other while their children watch them stealthily. Jake says they are in danger because Miles Koaric is after them and that they need to find a new home in order to be safe. On the other hand, Neteri always lived in the jungle and promised her dying father that she would always be there to help her people. Jake says staying around puts the Nitiri community at risk, and although he has no plan on what to do, protecting his family is what he can do. No matter where they go, he explains, “the family is our fortress.”
Without knowing more about the movie’s plot, it definitely seems like this is a scene that takes place at a major juncture in the Avatar: Water Road. It sets the heroes with the need to prioritize them as the battle against Quaritch continues, and it could be the truly defining moment for the characters in a new adventure.
Battle between Na’vi
Of the six clips on display, I have to admit that this one totally lost me due to the above-mentioned fact of not providing context for its preparation. In the scene, the Na’vi family is unfamiliar with the argument over one of the characters’ Bonding with an Outcast. The patriarchal figure in the group gives a lecture on the history of the tribe and how killing only leads to more killing, which is apparently the reason for the expulsion of the outcasts in question from their community. One character stands up to this patriarchal figure and fights tradition, saying, “I know what I know.”
I’m sure this scene will make sense in December when moviegoers actually go see it Avatar: Water Road In its entirety, but I can’t say it was particularly obvious to be shown independently and without the setup at the D23 Gallery.
Young Na’vi learned how to ride a water creature
the last Avatar 2 The presentation clip brought the action back to the water and Sully’s family. It seems to happen that after the clan moves from the jungle to a new home, the hero Na’vi is told that they must learn how to ride the seemingly small and friendly aquatic creatures. plesiosaurs If they wish to stay with a new tribe. Based on the evidence provided, it is not particularly difficult to acquire, as the young Na’vi bonds with the creatures quickly before hoping on their backs and taking them deeper into the water.
Although not a particularly substantial scene, the sequence offered a much more beautiful 3D cinematography underwater, and the film seemed to reinforce the themes of the importance of a relationship with nature.
In case it wasn’t clear, these clips probably won’t be released online, but hopefully they helped get you excited. Avatar: Water Road As fans at the D23 fair.
