The D23 fair just ended, and the big event of the last day was the board dedicated to Disney parks around the world. Theme park fans have been looking forward to this, because it’s where we usually get big announcements, including major updates to attractions and events we know are coming, as well as announcements of new things on the way.
We definitely got a few of those this year. We learned when it was long under construction Tron Lightcycle Run roller coaster will finally unlock. There was also an assertion that what was previously announced, and then previously forgotten, The Avengers Campus e-ticket allure is coming, but with a completely different story. However, in the midst of these announcements, perhaps the most interesting thing is what has not been said. There were a lot of things fans were expecting and we didn’t hear anything about it.
When does Splash Mountain close?
The fate of Splash Mountain has been a hot topic at Disney parks for the past two years. We know the trip is preparing for a major reorganization in both Disneyland Resort And Walt Disney World, we know that new flight, Bayou Tiana Adventure, set to open in just two years. The D23 board spent some time talking about the new ride and some of its show elements, but didn’t reveal how long guests will be able to experience the current attraction.
It’s not necessarily surprising that we didn’t get an official closing date for the current Splash Mountain because Disney rarely tries to draw attention to attractions closing, even when it’s a necessary part of an upcoming new attraction. However, this shutdown is likely to happen very soon, as the work in progress to redesign it will be intense, so an announcement of the shutdown will likely be soon.
When does Fantasmic return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
Walt Disney World has been open for more than two years since the pandemic shutdown, but so far, things haven’t been what they used to be. It has taken a long time for many elements, such as parades and fireworks displays, to return to the parks, and some popular shows, such as Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, are still waiting in the wings.
The theater where Fantasmic takes place got an overhaul recently and Disney World said the show will return this year. There was even talk of New items that will appear in this version of Fantasmic. A sketch shown during D23 even included a return of Fantasmic at Disney World as one of the items listed for 2022, but the show was not actually mentioned during the show; Which is odd, if the show is going to be back in less than three months.
What’s going on with Tomorrowland at Disneyland?
If there’s one area of American “castle gardens” that could use a little TLC, it’s Tomorrowland. The part of Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom has always had a more difficult time than the other parts of the theme parks, because the future always, eventually, comes here, and then Tomorrowland looks old. The addition of the Tron Lightcycle Run in the Magic Kingdom of Florida will probably help, but the truth is that both parks could use an update to this popular space.
There were hints of that Disneyland may see an update to Tomorrowlandwith Walt Disney Imagineer Scott Trowbridge sent some tweets This seemed to indicate that he was working on some ideas. Some rumors have even indicated that Peoplemover will be back in DIsneyland. But there is no mention of the land on either coast.
What is the future of Epcot’s gaming suite?
Much of Walt Disney Imagineering’s focus in the past two years has been on Epcot. The front half of the park has been under construction for years, and we learned at D23 that current construction, including Moana: Journey of Water Attraction, would take about another year to complete. but there was Another Epcot project we were told is in the future We don’t get any updates about it: Play Suite.
Anytime Walt Disney Imagineering spoke about Play Pavilion live, it looks like the interactive space will happen, but it didn’t show up on Sunday. Given how likely some of the projects discussed in the committee were far away, that lack of discussion made the Play Pavilion all the more grotesque.
When is MagicBand+ coming to Disneyland Resort?
When the original MagicBand was first revealed at Walt Disney World, we were led to believe that convenient, all-in-one devices would eventually make their way west to Disneyland. This never happened. When MagicBand+ was first announcedWe’re told he’ll get to Walt Disney World first, but he’s coming to Disneyland, too. We are still waiting.
MagicBand+ debuted at Disney World, but we don’t even have an estimate for when the product will arrive at Disneyland Resort. The lack of advertising certainly means that it will take some time.
What’s up with Disneyland Treehouse?
One of Disneyland’s most interesting updates in the past several months has been one of its smaller attractions. The Tarzan Treehouse, formerly Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, The renovation started earlier this year which we later learned will actually be a complete redesign. The catch is that it has never been announced what shape the rhyme will be, let alone when it will be made. Even after D23 Expo, we still don’t know.
The rumors have reached a large scale incanto Treehouse until full return to the Swiss Robinson family. The tree house is a secondary attraction in Adventureland that doesn’t usually get that kind of attention, but the fact that Disney remains so quiet about it is what makes everyone so curious.
When will the Walt Disney World Railroad reopen?
The Tron Lightcycle Run will be a massive new addition to the Magic Kingdom, but people’s interest in completing the roller coaster isn’t limited to the ride itself. Tron construction caused the occurrence Walt Disney World Railroad will be closed completely since late 2018And, while we did get a window in the spring of 2023 to reopen Tron, there was no mention of a train going under it.
We definitely expect the railway to be running by the time Tron opens, but most fans are hoping the trains will be running on time before Tron actually ends. Will the railway open before the end of the year or wait until 2023? There are a lot of people who miss the relaxing trip around the Magic Kingdom.
What’s going on with Dinoland at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
Well, that was Technically It was taken up as part of the D23 Expo presentation, but was done in such a weird way that we now have completely new questions. We know that, yes, Disney Parks is planning Overhaul and retheme from Dinoland, the part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom that clearly needs some help. It was kind of a totally expected update, but Disney doesn’t seem to know what to do with it.
Based on the presentation it seems there is no concrete plan for what to do with Dinoland yet/ WDI is still working on different ideas that Dinoland could become a land for zootopia Or maybe moana Or maybe something else. But this land had been in need of help for so long, so how could things not continue yet?
The Disney Parks D23 presentation answered a number of questions we had, but there are many topics that remain unaddressed. We will certainly have answers to all of these questions at some point, but it seems the best possible time for such answers has just passed.
