After weeks of speculation and rumors online, we now know the date of the next Nintendo Direct. And to the delight of Nintendo fans everywhere, the live stream is less than 24 hours away.
Nintendo announced that the upcoming Nintendo Direct will be on Tuesday, September 13, and will include “approximately 40 minutes of information focused primarily on Nintendo Switch games launching this winter.”
The last Nintendo Direct release was in February, so we’re definitely about to get a new one. Here are all the details you need to watch Nintendo Direct in September 2022.

UK viewers may want to take note Nintendo UK will not be broadcasting live (Opens in a new tab) As a sign of respect after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. However, a video-on-demand version will be available at 4pm local time, and UK viewers can still tune in to other regional Nintendo social channels to watch the action live.
What to expect from Nintendo Direct in September 2022
Nintendo is a tough company to predict. Just when you think you’ve made them quit, they go and do something weird like launching a cardboard building accessory called Labo. So, when it comes to Nintendo Direct, all bets are off. Sometimes you just have to expect the unexpected.
However, this does not mean that we do not have some rumors online that may indicate what we will see during the live broadcast. Industry Insider Jeff Group (via VGC (Opens in a new tab)) claimed that Nintendo will bring previously released Wii U copies of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to Switch this winter. It was also suggested that work be done on the Metroid Prime HD remaster. If accurate, Nintendo Direct could be the perfect place to unearth this much needed port.
Breath of the Wild 2 It was pushed back to 2023 earlier this year, but there’s a chance this Direct will offer a fresh look at the highly anticipated sequel. We haven’t seen anything new from the game since E3 2021, so we’re arguably late in providing new details. Meanwhile, Mario’s next 3D adventure is inevitable, and it’s been almost five years since Mario Odyssey was released, so perhaps the next Italian plumbers adventure will be revealed this week.
Of course, the only real way to know exactly what Nintendo has planned for the next few months and beyond, is to tune in to the Nintendo Direct yourself. Make sure to keep it locked to Tom’s guide as we’ll have full coverage of all ads once we go live.
