2022 Emmys: ‘Succession,’ ‘Ted Lasso’ repeat as winners; Zendaya, Lee Jung-Jae make history!

Los Angeles — The 74th Annual Emmy Awards have seen many repeat winners, along with a few history makers.

The series “The Caliphate” won first place in a distinguished drama series for the second time.

“The White Lotus” topped a limited series and “Ted Lasso” won the award for Best Comedy Series for the second year in a row.

Jason Sudeikis received the award for second best comedian. Behind the scenes, he shared his joy with his colleagues.

“We have to go for elegant things like this,” Sudeikis said. “It’s fun.” “People care and want to see the best for each other and that’s great.”

Lee Jung-Jae became the first Asian to win a Lead Actor award in a drama series for his work on “Squid Game” – and only the fourth Asian to win an Emmy. Zendaya made Emmy history — becoming the first black woman to win a lead actress in a drama series — and the youngest person ever to win two Emmys.

Jane Smart won her fifth Emmy and her second starring in the comedy “Hacks”. And on the comic side, too: Abbott Elementary went to the head of the class. The creator, Quinta Bronson, won for her writing. Behind the scenes, I made a sincere plea to all the true teachers out there.

“We need more teachers,” Bronson said. “They need to get paid more so people want to be teachers.” “With the money they make, I don’t want to become a teacher right now, but it’s an important profession to be respected.”

And her partner, Sheryl Lee Ralph, won her first Emmy for her supporting role on the show – she sang first and got a huge welcome.

“I know where my voice comes from,” Ralph said. “And there are a lot of young actors and artists…find your voice. Put it in the right place.”

Other winners include Michael Keaton for “Dopesick” and Amanda Seyfried for “The Dropout.”
