Iron Man star updates movie contract with Marvel | movies | entertainment

Over the weekend, Disney held their annual event, D23. During this captivating occasion, Marvel announced the next few pieces of the MCU puzzle to hit both cinemas and Disney Plus in the coming years.

During this celebration, a star of the Iron Man series revealed some devastating news about his position in the series.

Don Cheadle, who played James Rhodes (better known as War Machine) in the franchise, was caught on the red carpet discussing his future.

The star made his debut in 2010 in Iron Man 2, replacing Terence Howard as Tony Stark’s best friend.

Since then, he has had major roles in Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Cheadle has already filmed the upcoming Disney Plus show, Armor Wars, which focuses on Iron Man technology falling into the “wrong hands.” After that though? It may be done with the MCU.

Cheadle was questioned by Variety about how many years of MCU he has “contracted”. “I’m done with my MCU years,” the 57-year-old replied.

Although this news is undoubtedly shocking to fans of the franchise, it did give fans a glimmer of hope.

Cheadle added, “Now, it’s like something fun has been given to me and, yeah, let’s go!”

Cheadle recently talked about how “different” Rudy is in the upcoming series.

“It would be very surprising to a lot of people,” he sneered. “And the great thing is that there will be a great opportunity to learn a lot about him and him to learn about himself and for us, I hope we will really be able to stand behind what makes him tick.”

He also noted the series’ deeper connections to the comic books of the same name.

Cheadle revealed, “If you know anything about lore, and you’ve read the comic books, you understand that it’s a series created around the exit of Tony Stark Tech and Rhodey taking it to get the technology back from the bad hands, the bad actors who fall into their hands.”

“Just like Marvel does,” he added. “It’s also an opportunity to take mythology and turn it on its head a little bit and come up with different ways to tell the story, so it’s doing it and doing it in a big way.”

With such a huge story on Rudy’s shoulders, this might be his last journey as a hero – but does that mean he’s going to get killed?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now available to stream on Disney Plus.
