After attending a wedding together previously, Brian Dietzen’s Jamie Palmer and Katrina Law’s Jessica Knight admitted they shared feelings for each other, and by the end of Season 19, they committed to exploring this new dynamic. This is definitely not your first workplace romance NCIS It hooked us up, but showrunner Stephen DeBender explained how this relationship will differ from what we’ve seen between Tony DiNozzo, Ziva David, Nick Torres, and Ellie Bishop.
Tony and Ziva infamously channeled the “Will they, won’t they” metaphor during their seasons together. In turn, Binder and his team are looking forward to exploring a true-to-life workplace romance with Jimmy Palmer and Jessica Knight that’s still entertaining. The executive producer continued:
There are hesitations they have, based on their personalities per se, [but] There’s a lot to explore when you get down with the microscope and look at the minute details of how the relationship developed – the tug of war, the awkwardness, how Jimmy was out of the game for a while, and how you imagine Nate was all over the game. We really try to break it down and explore the fun of every moment.
Jamie Palmer was previously in a loving marriage to Michelle Pierce Brianna, and in NCIS Season 12, their daughter Victoria was born. Sadly, in the 18th season of the “Day One” episode, it was revealed that Breena had died after contracting COVID-19, and Jimmy had struggled with that loss for a long time (we later saw him say goodbye to seeing Breena in “The Helpers”). However, when the season 19 episode “Thick As Thieves” began, Jessica invited Jamie to be her date for her cousin’s wedding, and he accepted. True, it took these two a few months to take the formal step forward from friends to something else, but nonetheless away, NCIS Season 20 is free to officially showcase these two as a couple and see where life takes them in the midst of solving a crime each week.
