If you’re someone who goes to the same park a lot, like I do, you probably have those little rituals that you participate in almost every time you visit. Maybe it’s a specific snack you love to eat or a favorite trip you always go to first. The problem with this ritual is that if you do the same thing every time, you end up missing out on all the other things you could be doing. You will find yourself unaware even of the other options.
I like to spend as much time as possible in the parks when I’m there, so I usually drop Disneyland by the rope even though I usually have breakfast before I do anything else. Although there is not a single morning ritual, it can usually be found in Jolly Holiday Bakery Or grab the beignets shaped like mickey’s Mint Gulab Bar. However, that all changed earlier this year when one morning I was hanging out with two friends online, one a Disneyland Cast member, the other the director of the excellent documentary Halyx, Live from the space stage. They introduced me to my new morning ritual, the Disneyland Chimichanga breakfast. Does Deadpool know about this?
Breakfast chimichanga is by no means a secret, but at the same time, it’s easy to overlook, and I’ve had it for a few years now. It wasn’t just something I looked for, and so I never found it. Of course, when a member of the Disneyland team recommended this to me, I had to give it a shot, one assumes he’s tried everything in the park at one time or another, and that’s what he ate for breakfast.
It can only be found in Frontierland in the food cart across from the entrance to the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and it’s an attraction that you should check out anyway. Standard chimichanga is also available, all day long, but the breakfast chimichanga is very limited, selling only from the park open until 11am, or while supplies last. Because of how the site’s canopy makes it difficult to read the sign from a distance, this element is really easy to miss.
The breakfast chimichanga is great, a delicious combination of eggs, cheese and breakfast sausage in fried tortillas. It’s an excellent way to start the day because it’s a portable breakfast, so grab one before you go in line for your first attraction of the day. It works a lot better than any breakfast that requires you to sit down, unless you really want to do it, or even my Mickey Bagnet, which I love, but leave covered in powdered sugar.
So if you’re not used to breakfast chimichanga, I recommend, on your next trip to Disneyland, hit up Frontierland in the morning and give it a shot. They sure can run out of them, which shows that this particular item isn’t a secret for everyone, so hit the swatch early and pick one up. Your new ritual of dropping the ropes may become the same.
