Former AEW World Champion CM Punk kicked off the pressure with a candid sermon about his situation with Colt Cabana. While the two were good friends, Punk and Cabana had a falling out in late 2018 after WWE doctor Chris Aman referred the two to court. Punk elaborated on why he and Cabana did not confront him and accused AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega and Young Bucks of spreading rumors that he tried to fire Cabana from AEW.
Since the press, Punk has had surgery for a torn triceps muscle and has remained completely silent on social media. Cabana addressed the press conference indirectly on Twitter, liking tweets containing opinions on what happened. While Cabana has yet to offer his thoughts on what Punk said, he did refer to one of Punk’s now infamous comments on one of the recent comments. Twitch Stream.
“My brother is the manager of Family Guy, in case you didn’t know. This is fun news. My brother is the manager of Family Guy. You can look up his name. He also shares my mother a bank account,” Cabana joked. “It’s all in the family, you know how it is.”
This is in reference to Punk who stated that Cabana “shares a bank account with his mother”, which he claimed “tells you everything you need to know about the personality type”.
While Cabana hasn’t been seen on AEW TV in months, he recently worked on Seal of Honor: Death Before Infamy Pay-per-view where Anthony defeated Henry by pin. AEW President Tony Khan has denied rumors that Cabana has been “reassigned” to ROH, but has clarified that his new contract is doing a “different job”.
“There is definitely a perception that I don’t think is accurate when I bought the Ring of Honor and also [as] Some contracts were in the pipeline and starting to take steps – whether renewing in most cases, not renewing or in some cases reassigning people – there was an unfairly persistent misconception that CM Punk had anything to do with it, Khan said earlier this month, “I want to move Colt Cabana to the Ring of Honor roster upon entering into his contract.” I’ll make it clear, just to take it straight, that [Punk] It has nothing to do with any of the contracts I’ve had, whether I did it or not.
