It was alleged at the time that a hacker gained access to developer Rockstar Games, and now the company has officially addressed the leaks — and confirmed that someone had gained unauthorized access to its systems and early footage of the new Grand Theft Auto.
“We recently experienced a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto game,” Official statementAttributed to the Rockstar Games team, it reads. “Currently, we do not expect any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term impact on the development of our ongoing projects.”
“We are extremely disappointed to share any details of our upcoming game with all of you in this way,” the official statement continued. “Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we will remain as committed as ever to providing an experience for you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations. We will update everyone again soon, and of course, we will rightfully bring you this next game when it’s ready. We want We would like to thank everyone for their continued support during this situation.”
Notably, the statement appears to indicate that the leaks will not affect the development schedule for the new Grand Theft Auto.
