Madison High School threat: Teens accused of vowing to chain exit doors, trap students, shoot up campus appear in court!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Two teenage boys accused of threatening to shoot students at James Madison High School last week appeared in court on Tuesday morning.

Students are still enrolled in the school, but they are no longer allowed to attend Madison High School.

Damien Dryas, 17, was first brought before a judge on Tuesday. The judge put him under house arrest, saying he is not allowed to leave his house at all, unless he appears in court or meets with his lawyer.

Daria cannot have contact with anyone from Madison High School and must undergo a court-ordered mental health evaluation.

Cornell Thomas, 18, was next. He, too, must remain under house arrest and cannot contact anyone from the school. Thomas must also undergo a court-ordered mental health evaluation.

Court records show that the teens told classmates not to come to school because they were planning a school shooting and were planning more to block the exit doors and then shoot while the students were trying to escape in order to hide.

“We’re glad we’re here at this point and not here, you know, especially post-Ovaldi, we’re glad we’re here at this point and not on the Madison High School grounds where there are dead kids in the DA,” said Nancy Ta, DA assistant.

The judge was very clear that both defendants could not leave their home. If they do, it will cause their restrictions to be violated and they will be sent to prison.
