What is the net worth of Horacio Pagani?

Horacio Pagani is an Argentine-Italian businessman, engineer and auto industry executive who has a net worth of $100 million. Horacio Pagani is best known as the founder of the Italian specialty automaker Pagani Automobili SpA (also known simply as Pagani). Previously he worked at Lamborghini and Renault. After the founding of Pagani in 1992, the Zonda was the first car produced by Horacio. Pagani cars are known to sell for millions of dollars right out of the gate. Some particularly desirable Pagans have been known to fetch anywhere from $10 to $20 million at auction.

previous life

Horacio Pagani was born on November 10, 1955 in Casilda, Argentina. He is the son of Luca and Maria Pagani. Luca was a baker from Italy. In 1974, Horacio entered the National University of La Plata, where he studied industrial design. He later studied mechanical engineering at Rosario National University. Pagani started making cars out of balsa wood at a young age, and some of these cars are on display in the Pagani showroom.

early post

Horacio became interested in engineering while living in Argentina, but felt that the rural environment would not be the right place to pursue an engineering career. In 1977, he opened an 80 square meter store called The Factory. He was the only factor, and his first job was to produce high seating for a new local pub. When Pagani was 20 years old, he designed and built an F3 racer, and in the early 1980s, he moved to Italy to fulfill his dream of building a supercar.

Lamborghini

After Horacio found success improving the bodies of Renault racing cars, he met Giulio Alfieri, Lamborghini’s chief technical director, and was hired to do essential jobs, such as sweeping. Pagani worked his way up the company, eventually becoming chief engineer, and in 1985, he built the Countach Evolzione, “the first car made entirely of composite materials.” When Lamborghini refused to buy Jeep to help produce carbon parts for the Countach Evoluzione, Horacio borrowed money to buy his own Jeep in 1987.

In 1991, Pagani left Lamborghini and founded the consultancy Modena Design, which manufactures carbon fiber composites for racing cars.

In June 2022, Horacio was honored with the Compasso d’Oro Award from the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale in the “Design for Mobility” category. The Compasso d’Oro is “the world’s oldest and most distinguished design award”. Pagani said of the award:

For me, it is an honor to be one of the top designers and distinguished for Italian design by the ADI jury, but I want to stress that this award must be shared with the Pagani design and engineering team who have worked alongside me since I started this amazing adventure. Without their candid and constant feedback, and the passion they put into their work every day, none of this would be possible.

In September 2022, Pagani Automobili unveiled its latest car, the Utopia, at the National Science and Technology Museum in Milan. Only 99 utopias will be produced and each car will initially cost $2.2 million.
