Next James Bond bosses ‘love’ Idris Elba – but questioned him as 007 | movies | entertainment

Since Daniel Craig stepped out of his James Bond suit last year, after No Time To Die, the search for a new and improved 007 has continued. So far, there has been no real news of which Bond bosses, Barbara Broccoli and Michael J. Wilson, will pick the iconic role. But the sibling producers have now opened up about the next step for their franchise.

Broccoli and Wilson touch on the difficulty of facing the new James Bond star after Craig’s long tenure. The first laughed: “A lot of people think: ‘Oh, yeah, that would be fun to do. “Well, that won’t work.” “It’s a big investment for us too, to bring out a new Bond,” added Wilson.

They noted that the upcoming Bond movie is expected to join a multi-film series over more than a decade.

“That’s why, when people go: ‘Oh, who are you going to get?'” Broccoli added. It’s not just about choosing an actor for a movie. It’s about reinventing, and ‘Where do we take it?’ What do we want to do with the character?” And then, once this is figured out, who is the right person for this particular regeneration?”

Bond’s ever-changing odds were the only way fans were able to keep up with the popularity of the big names in racing. Idris Elba was one of the biggest names in betting.

The London-born actor had previously said he was “okay with Luther,” but it seems punters are positioning him as one of the stars most likely to wear a tuxedo next. The Ladbrokes gave the star an incredible 4/1 on claiming the role.

On whether Elba could be the next bond, Wilson said, “It’s great.” “We love Idris,” Broccoli added.

But the producers have some doubts that the actor will want to join the series in the coming years.

Broccoli described the next step in the James Bond story as “evolution”. “Bond evolves like men do. I don’t know who evolves faster.”

She noted that Craig showed a more “emotional” side to James Bond, deepening audiences into the character’s “inner life”.

“The films that spanned his presidency were the first time we really connected the emotional arc,” she added.

Interestingly enough, the producers did not mention the current Bond winners.

Currently, Henry Cavill is the favorite to take on the role of James Bond in the upcoming 007 movie. He has an amazing 1/2 to become the new secret agent hero.

But Tom Hardy has also gained some ground in recent weeks. He now has a solid 4/1 in taking over the role – putting him down neck and neck with Elba.

Once a clear favorite in Bond betting, Alex Abate of Ladbrokes said, “Tom Hardy is now starting to close the gap between the top two again after a flurry of bets this week.”
