Saints Row chief says the reboot’s reception made him ‘sad’

Saints row He returned to the arena last month and was greeted to the disappointment of Volition’s owner, Embrace Group. Saints Row is one of the most beloved franchises in gaming and has long been seen as a direct competitor to Grand Theft Auto. Of course, it doesn’t feature the same production value as the Rockstar series, but it’s the closest thing the series has to a competitor. Saints Row has made a name for itself by adopting a wacky tone and focusing on a sophisticated gang known as the Saints. The series eventually took on the theme of things like superheroes and aliens, making it difficult to launch a fifth game ever as there was no logical next step for the franchise.

Earlier this year, the series returned with a reboot titled Simply Saints row. Unfortunately, it was criticized for its light version, lackluster storyline, and outdated gameplay that left fans craving for more. The team is still working on some bugs, but its legacy has been a bit tainted. When talking to investors (via Stephen Totilo), Lars Wingfors, CEO of Embracer Group, spoke about how the game’s reception saddened him and he was hoping for more of the title. He expressed a somewhat positive outlook, noting that the game would make money, but not as much as the company had hoped.

“Personally, I would have liked a greater reception for the game,” Wingfors said. “It was a very polarizing view. […] There is a lot to be said and details about. I am happy to see so many happy players and fans. At the same time, I am a little sad to see the fans are not happy. it’s hard. I think we need to wait until the quarterly report in November for more details.”

As of now, it is not clear what the future will be Saints row Resembles? Will there be a sequel? Will Volition try to bring back the OG crew that fans love so much to try and right it? It’s really unknown, but it’s hard to imagine that’s how such a big series would die.
