‘Hamster & Gretel’ brings action-packed fun to Disney Channel’s Saturday morning lineup!

Los Angeles — “Hamster & Gretel is an animated series that follows a young girl named Gretel and her pet, who are endowed with superpowers and fight crime. Her brother Kevin and her family are there to support her as she keeps her town safe.

The show was created by Dan Povenmire, who also brought us the feature-length animated series, “Phineas and Ferb”.

“I love my character. I feel like it reminds me of myself, so hyper, so annoying, kind of a brat,” laughed Millie Puvenmeier, daughter of Dan Puvenmeier who voted Gretel.

“It’s been so much fun and she’s so funny, basically from her birth,” Dan Bovenmeier said of his daughter.

But there’s more to this cartoon than just fighting crime, according to Michael Cimino, who voiced Kevin.

“I think this show shows a lot of the family dynamic,” Cimino said. “Sometimes it’s hard to navigate the family dynamics and I feel like this show definitely knows that.”

This family just so happens to be of Venezuelan descent and Carolina Ravasa, who plays Gretel and Kevin’s mother, is all about it.

“Showing a multicultural family in animation is really special to me,” Ravasa said. “I grew up in a house where we spoke English and Spanish.”

And as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, “Hamster & Gretel “How she represents her Venezuelan culture in every episode.

“We’ve been able to integrate our Venezuelan culture in a way that feels natural, authentic, and authentic,” said writer Joanna Houseman.

Carolina agreed and said, “Seeing him in a Disney show is really cool. The show is very special to Venezuelan culture and I’m honored to play a Venezuelan mother.”

“Hamster & Gretel” airs Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. on Disney Channel.
