Twitch employees are said to think the company is ‘out of touch’

Twitch employees are expressing concerns about how “out of touch” the company is pursuing some massive changes to the platform. Twitch is a giant platform that rivals many other social media platforms thanks to how attractive it is. There are countless artists on the platform, streaming games, talk shows, elaborate productions, and more that help attract people and the communities around them help keep people coming back. It’s a great platform that has battled rivals like Mixer over the years, but there is concern that Twitch may lose its throne for the foreseeable future as it continues to make controversial changes and YouTube is steadily building its own streaming platform.

Obviously, this isn’t just an idea from streamers or viewers either, and Twitch employees have reportedly been chanting similar beliefs. in Bloomberg article About the departure of Constance Knight, senior vice president of global creators at Twitch, it was reported that employees believe the company and its leadership are “out of touch”. The news follows a controversial option to lower the rate of return split for some of the platform’s top creators, a move that appears to have not been well received by some Twitch employees either. Two former employees told Bloomberg that there aren’t many people representing creators at the Twitch CEO table. Zachary Diaz, former director of Twitch Emerging Content, also spoke about Twitch President Dan Clancy’s first business approach to the platform.

“Dan is the ultimate embodiment of a steady business technology professional coming from an uninnovative company first trying to park on the starboard side of a ship that appears to be veering into unprofitable,” Diaz said. “It’s the embodiment of ‘Creator’s feeling secondary to everything.’ There is no leader to answer that, so now it’s the direction of Twitch.”

As of now, it remains to be seen if Twitch will undo some of its controversial changes. Some streamers like Jerma threatened to leave the platform after the news. Twitch did one thing in particular earlier this week after announcing that it would crack down on gambling streams.
