Excerpts from Alan Rickman’s memoir reveal the actor considered abandoning Harry Potter and one early tip helped him

The Harry Potter Movies It wouldn’t have been as successful as it would have been without the skills of the late Alan Rickman. Like anyone who has a profile peacock subscription I can tell you, part of the fun in revisiting those eight movies is watching Professor Severus Snape work as a helper and a handicap for the adventures of young Harry. Apparently, we almost didn’t get to see Rickman in later installments of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding world, where the actor considered withdrawing from the series midway. His reasoning was solid, because part of the decision was due to him undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
