Ahead of Italy, Verstappen was in the lead with only 109 points. Now, he is 116 ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (and 125 ahead of teammate Sergio Perez). And from that position, ahead of practice and qualifying this week, it looks like we’re in a slow but steady race for Max’s overall victory.
However, don’t expect Max to win in Singapore. His current calculations put him 22 points off the 138 lead he needs to claim the driver’s title. And to get that, we bet he’ll need Leclerc to publish the DNF – because he’s unlikely to publish the very low score that Max will need.
However, Leclerc (even with all the bad advice for the Scuderia Ferrari team) is likely to do well this week. Barring technical difficulties, Leclerc is expected to hit the podium.
Elsewhere on the set, Sainz and Hamilton had good days in the office, trying to avoid getting more penalties. Despite this, Sergio Perez, who managed to finish sixth from 13th on the grid, was able to make up for an early problem, after his car suffered tire damage and brake fire.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit starts at 1 PM BST / 8 AM ET / 5 AM PT on Sunday (October 2) and there are multiple ways to tune in, including some free options. So read on and we’ll show you how to watch the live stream of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.
