Limited Play Games Auction Castlevania for Charity

Earlier this year, Limited Run Games revealed an exclusive version of the agreement from Castlevania Anniversary Collection For Nintendo Switch. This version of the Konami collection comes in a stylish box designed to resemble classic Super Nintendo games. It’s a great design, and while it’s not yet widely available, the company has partnered with VGA to sell a special-edition 90-graded at auction on eBay. The publisher has confirmed that 100% of the sale will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The auction is set to end this weekend, so Castlevania fans have a few days to submit their bids.

As of this writing, the auction stands at over $500 after 30 bids. However, scaled versions of video games have sold in droves over the past year, and the game has over 50 viewers, so this game could fetch a bit more money when all is said and done. While there is clearly a market for ranked games, this practice remains a source of controversy for gamers eager to collect vintage titles. Earlier this year, ratings company Wata Games was accused of artificially manipulating values in a class action lawsuit. After some fans raised questions about the rolling aspect of Castlevania events, Limited Run Games co-founder Josh Fairhurst noted VGA’s long history of ranking games compared to Wata and the fact that the former company “has never been part of any controversy.”

Castlevania fans who want to get this version of the game without buying a tiered version or attending a conference are out of luck. Limited Run Games has confirmed that the game in a SNES-inspired retro box will be available on the website “at a later time”.
