Caught on camera: Purported salesman uses racist slur against homeowner in Acres Homes!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A man claiming to be a solar panel seller who was meeting with his neighbors called a homeowner the N word, instead, in a video that went viral online. The accident occurred on Saturday in the Acres Homes neighborhood of Houston.

ABC13 Blur the face of the man who used the slander because he does not face charges. A Harris County detective said what he did was ignorant and racist, but not illegal.

The doorbell camera caught a man who described himself as a neighbor and solar panel salesman making an introduction.

He said, “We’re solar powered here, and we’re just walking around and talking to n*****s. Sorry dude. Neighbors. I’m apologizing.”

“In order to not feel the way I wanted to feel and do the things I wanted to do, I just had to separate myself and walk away from this situation, because this is my home,” said Michael, the homeowner who just ordered that his first name be used.

Michael said he watched the recording several times and also wondered if the slander had slipped.

“But no,” he said. “You can’t go wrong with that word. This isn’t a word you said by mistake, unless you’ve been saying it for a very long time.”

Aside from the question of intent, Michael said he wondered why the guy said his name was Fernando, he lived a few doors away, and he worked at Pink Energy.

Pink Energy sent a statement to ABC13:

“Pink Energy does not comment on the activities of employees of other companies. The shirt he is wearing is not a Pink Energy shirt and appears to have another company’s name on it. The individual in the video is not and has never worked with Pink Energy.”

County records also do not show that the man is a homeowner on Michael Street.

“I didn’t know if it was a joke,” Michael said. “I didn’t know if this was something someone was targeting…it was surreal.”

This experience brought unexpected ordeal to the door of the one place Michael said he believed he and his family would not be subjected to racism.

He said, “It was really like, you can’t dodge it. It’s something around you, right in front of you, and it’s going to come to your doorstep even if you don’t want it to be there.”
