Dragon Ball Crossover imagines Goku as the Mighty Morphin’ Red

Dragon Ball has been around for decades, and for many fans, they first met Goku in the ’90s. The emergence of Dragon Ball Z put Saiyan center stage, and the anime movement along with the United States propelled Goku into the spotlight. For millions of fans, Goku has been labeled with their idols from the ’90s, and the hero is still thriving even after all these years. And now, there’s a special crossover that brings Goku in line with another legend from ’90s TV.

As you can see below, the piece comes from fan artist Salva Makoto. Netizens have gained a following for their instant appreciation for Dragon Ball as their work honors the franchise’s retro aesthetic. Not too long ago, the artist felt it was time to cross Dragon Ball with another powerhouse in the ’90s, and it gave us our first Super Saiyan Red Ranger.

The artwork fits Goku as the leader of the Power Rangers, and honestly? The red hero suits the hero. With a sword in hand, Goku looks ready to wipe the floor, Rita or Frieza if they get out of line. And of course, he can always go to Super Saiyan which is an even bigger threat that makes himself known.

This nostalgic crossover brings two of the biggest ’90s franchises together, and even the most reluctant fans will agree to the mashups. I mean, Dragon Ball actually honors Power Rangers and Sentai Roots once Gohan grows. The hero adopts a superhero known as the Great Saiyaman, and Gohan’s nickname is directly inspired by the Power Rangers. Now, this fun combination gives Goku his own taste of morphine magic, and fans are desperate to see if Vegeta would like a place on the team.

What do you think of this Power Rangers smart crossover? Should the Red Ranger recruit any of the other Dragon Ball stars? Share your thoughts in the comments section below or follow me on Twitter @Megan Peters CB.
