Why is Ms. Lina’s death more important than you think

Dragon House Episode 6 by a lot of viewers – from a decade-long leap to some shocking character deaths. Truth be told, one of the most “shocking” things about the gruesome demise suffered by “The Princess and the Queen” wasn’t the way the characters died – it was the deaths of characters we didn’t know, but were already growing to love.

One of those figures was Lady Lina Philaerion, daughter of Lord Corliss Philarion and Princess Chynis Targaryen. Lana was a bargaining chip between Corlys and King Viserys, but eventually married Daemon Targaryen to help put her own claim to power. in Dragon House Episode 4, it’s clear that by the time she becomes an adult, Laina (Nana Blundell) is all about the dragon-riding badass in ancient Valyria that would capture the heart of a Daemon Targaryen.

Laena Targaryen’s time in House of the Dragon was so short that she was played by three different actresses (in order: Nova Voiles Moss, Savannah Stein, and Blundell) and we barely recognize any of them. However, the way Lena came out (having been her legendary dragon, Hagar burns her alive rather than dying in childbirth) quickly made her a standout figure in the Game of Thrones fandom. And while Lana’s character may not have had much time, the impact of her death is so great that we’ll be hearing about it for some time to come.

If there is one thing we know Game of thrones, the death of one can cause ripples that alter the life paths of many – and even the fate of Westeros. Well, Lady Lena is one of those deaths already.

With Laena gone, House Velaryon suffers a deep wound that will undoubtedly also affect House Targaryen. A preview of House of the Dragon Episode 7 already suggests that Laena who has disappeared will bring Princess Rhaenyra and Daemon together again at her funeral — thus setting the two back on a path to romantic heat, which also eluded trailers and photos. The demon being in search of a new mate (and seeing how Rhaenyra played with the lovers) means their reunion doesn’t bode well for anyone.

There is also the disturbing issue of Laena Vhagar’s dragon disappearing after her death, and rising tensions that cause Queen Alicent to literally pull a dagger at Rhaenyra. It looks like all of these developments stem directly from Laena’s departure – and as a showrunner Dragon House We laughed, we’re not too far from an all-out war.
