Father of 5 fatally run over by woman who thought he was killing a cat, Orange County prosecutors say!

Cyprus, California – Orange County prosecutors said Wednesday that a woman has been charged with killing a Southern California man by crashing her car into him after he was accused of trying to run over a cat in the street.

Hana Starr Esser, 20, has been charged with murder in the death of Victor Anthony Lewis, 43, and is being held on $1 million bail, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Authorities said Esser was driving in Cypress on Sunday night when she confronted Louis and accused him of trying to run over a cat.

She and Louis got out of their car and got into an argument that Esser recorded, authorities said.

The authorities said Eseer then got back into her car, turned around, walked toward Lewis and hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This behavior demonstrated a complete disregard for human life,” Attorney General Todd Spitzer said in the statement.

Louis, the father of five daughters, was expecting his first grandchild this fall. A statement issued on behalf of his family today said that he was killed in front of his apartment and “died in the arms of his only brother.”

“This senseless, violent act has robbed the world of a bright light that will never be forgotten,” the statement said. GoFundMe campaign His sister raised him to pay for his funeral.

Court records showed that Eser was arrested on Sunday and appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday. It is scheduled to be called on October 13. An email was sent to defense attorney Michael Morrison for comment.

It wasn’t immediately clear if a cat was actually involved, said Kimberly Eds, a spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office. She said the crime is still under investigation.
