What will Google announce at the Made by Google launch event?
Google doesn’t leave much to the imagination. The company said in Google Store Promotional Page (Opens in a new tab). “We will also be announcing additions to the Nest smart home wallet.”
We already knew about the Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch devices — Google previewed all of these at its developer conference in May. Nest smart home products are a new wrinkle, and they can include anything from smart speakers to devices like thermostats, routers, locks or cameras.
Whatever Google eventually announces during the Made by Google launch event, it will be available for pre-order on October 6, the same day as the event. Two Google brick-and-mortar stores in New York will have devices on hand to check out in person.
Here are more details on what we know about the Pixel and Pixel Watch phones ahead of the October 6 hardware event created by Google.
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro: Google’s primary focus with the latest versions of its flagship phones will be the addition of the updated Silicon Tensor. The Tensor G2 should offer more Pixel-exclusive experiences like the one that highlighted last year’s version of the Tensor-powered Pixel 6. We expect the Made by Google event to be spent detailing these experiences and how they benefit from core custom machine learning on Google Slides.
Other than that, the leaked Pixel 7 specifications suggest that the new phones won’t differ much from their predecessors, with the camera hardware looking as if it hasn’t changed from the Pixel 6. Even Google keeps the design it introduced with last year’s phones, despite the camera bar. . It gets some minor tweaks based on a preview of the Google Pixel 7.
The Pixel 7 hits the scene about a month after the iPhone 14, and with Google and Apple usually vying for the title of best camera phone, we’re curious to know what the new Tensor chips mean for the Pixel 7’s photo features. Confrontation with the smartphone.
Pixel clock: Like the Pixel 7, the Pixel Watch got a preview back in May and subsequent teaser videos showed us more about the watch’s design. It gets a round watch face, in possible colors including black, silver and gold.
The Pixel Watch will run on Wear OS to bring Android experiences to your wrist. We also expect the watch to rely on Fitbit’s fitness tracking features, since that company is owned by Google. This will likely be complemented by sensors on the watch that can measure things like heart rate, ECG, and body fat percentage. We’re still waiting to see what kind of battery life we can expect from the Pixel Watch, although it’s said to get a 300mAh battery that’s unlikely to provide a long, multi-day life.
