Did you get Amazon Prime? You can record Lord of the Rings for free

For Amazon Prime subscribers, The Rings of Power is undoubtedly the best show of the season. There are two episodes left to air this season, and it can be hard to wait for new content to come out (especially when you’re used to streaming the entire Netflix series at once.)

Fortunately, Amazon Prime Gaming is giving Lord of the Rings fans greatness with a free title this October. And you don’t even have to wait for the Prime Early Access Sale to start. Amazon Prime members will be able to download and keep a copy of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War on PC (Opens in a new tab), an open-world RPG title set in the world of The Lord of the Rings. (The game will be available for download from October.) In the game, you will be able to customize your own hero, beat bosses, and solve puzzles.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is a follow-up to the 2014 game Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. (If you already have an Amazon Prime subscription, you can claim a free copy of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor before October 2nd; just head over to Amazon Prime Gaming (Opens in a new tab).)

When we checked out Middle-Earth: Shadow of War in 2017, we weren’t impressed with the game’s plot, and we found its reliance on loot boxes disappointing. The reviewer in Tom Marshall Honor’s Handbook even mentioned that Middle-Earth: Shadow of War felt at war with itself. However, there is still plenty to enjoy in the game. The combat is exhilarating, the open world environment is visually impressive, and the gameplay is diverse enough to keep you entertained for dozens of hours. Shadow of War is good enough for a solid recommendation, especially when you get it at no additional cost in addition to your Amazon Prime subscription.

In addition to Shadow of War, Prime Gaming offers a few other goodies as well. October deals include a free copy of the open-world RPG Fallout 76, as well as puzzle game Loom and strategy game Total War: Warhammer 2. You’ll also be able to get some in-game loot for games like Pokémon Go and Deathloop.
