Having the ability to copy and paste photo edits in iOS Photos is pretty cool. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s my favorite of the iOS 16 features from Apple.
That’s right: I put this feature above major iOS 16 features, like the ability to save a reputation to cancel texting on an iPhone or the incredibly cool option to raise a subject from a photo with Visual Look Up.
This is because, as a photographer, I’ve spent a lot of time in Adobe Lightroom CC, editing hundreds of photos at once. One of the most useful features of this application is the ability to copy the modifications made to one image and paste it into another image or group of images. While it may not seem world changing, it is definitely a professional editing feature and something you would expect to find in the best photo editing software, so having it on your iPhone is great news for avid photographers.
See, when you take several shots of the same scenario, or in the same environment, exposure levels can be more or less the same. In these cases, the edits you apply to one photo will likely fit into the next 10 – if not all of them, then most of them. As such, copying and pasting your edit edits to one or more other images is a great way to save time and speed up your post-production workflow.
This is why it’s great that you now have the feature on iOS Photos. While I use my iPhone for more casual photography than anything more serious, I still take a lot of pictures on it, regularly shooting multiple shots of the same pose or similar. Since I often edit those in iOS photos, copying and pasting my edits should save me a lot of time when I want to quickly edit 15 photos and compare what they all like after production.
