“When you change the actor, you have to reimagine the direction the movie will go in. When you hire an actor, you hope to spend at least a decade with him and make four, five, six movies with him so you have to think carefully, ‘What is the path?’ What will this actor achieve? How are you going to take the series in another direction?” “It’s not just about going through Spotlight and saying, ‘Oh, there’s a 6’1 old man’ ‘We’re going to take our time. We want to know where we want to go with the chain and we want to do that before we bring anyone else in. Can I kill him in the last one? And she didn’t stop. She said yes.’ So I made a pact with her at the time and said, “This is the way I want it to go.” It’s the only way I could see for myself ending everything and to make it that way was my term, someone else could come in and take over. .she stuck to her guns.”
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli earlier told Deadline that there is no first runner yet, because there is no one in the race. They’re still too early to write the next 007 version. Besides the fact that they just want the guys to play the character, there are plenty of avenues for the team to explore.
“Nobody’s into running,” Broccoli recently said of the upcoming Bond star. “We’re working out where we’re going, talking about it. There’s no script and we can’t come up with a single script until we decide how we’re going to deal with the next movie because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing his identity and that takes time. I would say. Filming is at least two years away from him.”
