Society movie is already happening, folks, so get your mandolier out of paintball ammo, yell “Pop, pop!” And (at some point) turn on Peacock. This is due to the return of the beloved NBC sitcom community (later on Yahoo! Screen).
Fortunately, the film Society brings in more than just a handful of familiar faces. However, some of the actors’ original names are glaring due to their omission. Well, there’s Pierce. We don’t expect society to raise the dead (or mend ties with Chevy Chase).
But, yes, society, creator Dan Harmon’s biggest success story before we met Rick and Morty, finally got the movie that many have been screaming at for years. It’s no shock, because we’re in the age of streaming, where all the best streaming services are still in need of fresh content.
So, let’s break down everything we know about the Society movie and what we hope it has to offer.
Society Film Actors and Actors: Which Grendel Young Will Return?
diverse (Opens in a new tab), who broke news of the film Society, granted some wishes (and created some new ones) for the movie. She said the following cast members will be returning for the film:
- Joel McHale as Jeff Winger, the sacked attorney who gets a college degree in Greendale for a degree and ends up making friends too
- Danny Body as Abd Nader, an aspiring filmmaker
- Alison Brie as Annie Edison, a dedicated student trying to shed her high school nickname “Little Annie Adderall”
- Gillian Jacobs as Britta Perry, who’s always ready to protest, even if she just finds out why
- Jim Rush as Dean Craig Pelton, who had more costume changes than Britney Spears at the VMAs
- Ken Jeong as Ben Chang, who tried to bring about “changes”
on social media, Joel McHale (Opens in a new tab) And other stars celebrated with the announcement, tagging unannounced cast members Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown, whose return has not been confirmed or even hinted at. The inscription, at this point, seems more likely. Glover, who barely uses his Twitter account, did not respond.
brouwn (Opens in a new tab)On the other hand, Joel McHale tweeted, quoting: “It’s happening! Congratulations, #community fans! You guys did it! ❤️ #SixSeasonAndAMovie”
It looks like Joel McHale accidentally dumped Gillian Anderson in the movie, with a tweet where he flagged the X-Files star instead of Gillian Jacobs. Anderson (Opens in a new tab) He tweeted “Gillian Jacobs who? I’m at joelmchale 😉”, so now we need her as a Britta relative.
Chevy Chase probably won’t be returning to Pierce Hawthorne, as the character is dead and Chase’s public expulsion from the series is still fresh in our heads.
But speaking of Pierce, we have two more desires to cast a dream. First of all, we need Giancarlo Esposito to return as Gilbert Lawson, Pierce’s half-brother. ask the second? It would be great if Esposito and fellow Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul alum Jonathan Banks could get together in the movie Community. We’ll explain why in the section below.
Dan Harmon, of course, will be back, too. The show maker will serve as executive producer and writer, with writing support from Andrew Guest (30 Rock, Community). Among the executive producers are McHale, returning Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster from Community EP.
Unfortunately, this is where things get a bit weirder. While we want to tell you that a community movie might hit Peacock next year, or in 2024 or 2025, there’s no proof of that. All there is, in fact, is one quote from Dan Harmon, from Augustus, prior to the film’s confirmation.
“I will say now, [about the Community movie]It’s a matter of time ” NEWSWEEK (Opens in a new tab)“It could be one to eight years from now, and that’s how the industry works, especially when you’re dealing with epidemics and so on.”
But since society ended in 2015, seven years ago, what are another eight years?
Film Society: What does “six seasons and a movie” refer to?
Back in Season 2, Episode 21, “Models of Human Memory,” a trailer made up of new clips, Abed kept telling Jeff that he believed in the success of the NBC series The Cape. And that he will get “six seasons and a movie.” Jeff didn’t believe him.
Since then, “Six Seasons and a Movie” has become the ubiquitous rallying cry (Grendale’s mascot). Not only is the community slowly making its way to that sixth season on Yahoo! Screen, but because the movie was still on everyone’s wish list.
Calling Dean Bilton for the study group to return to Grindahl — either for a 10-year reunion or something — makes perfect sense. That’s why we don’t believe Harmon and Co. You will do something straightforward. Instead, we have a far-fetched idea that’s pretty dead. Which gives us hope that Harmon might be thinking of something similar.
If Society could bring back Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks, we’d love that Banks didn’t play criminology professor Buzz Hickey (aka Pat Nichols). Alternatively, imagine if Banks were re-imagined as another secret relative of Pierce. The gang could even call him “The Good Pierce”.
You were going to do all this because Greendale Community College needed funding to survive, and the gang decided that Hawthorne Wipes could provide that funding. Society likes to make fun of symbiotic relationships etc, but we imagine Hawthorne Tissue may not be as treasure trove as it once was, because ‘Good Pierce’ would probably give all workers increases in livable wages, decent benefits and furlough.
Then, it is up to everyone to find a way to make this institutional learning synergy profitable.
