The trailer for Super Mario Bros Movie has set the internet on fire — and not in a good way. The video game franchise, created by Nintendo, is said to be worth over $22 billion, and has countless fans all over the world. So it’s no surprise that the upcoming Super Mario Bros Movie has a lot of excitement behind it. However, when the film’s voice cast was announced, fans resented the inclusion of Chris Pratt as the title hero, Mario. Now the trailer has been released, these same fans are devastated by his voice.

Not long after, Mario Pratt appeared during his launch in the Mushroom Kingdom. But when he opened his mouth, the normal Guardians of the Galaxy sound came out of the iconic character’s mouth.
Fans are now awake at the hero’s simple rendition and are attacking hard on Twitter.
One wrote: “HOLY S**T is literally just Chris Pratt’s voice.” Another added: “Who would have thought that the big secret voice of Chris Pratt in Mario would be his natural speaking voice.” (sic)
Another angry fan said, “I still feel like Chris Pratt is kind of a bad joke because what a f**k is that vocal performance.” (sic)
Someone said, “I can’t believe Chris Pratt actually does such a great voice for Mario. I thought this was just a joke that sounded so stupid.” (sic)
With another assurance to fellow fans: “The voice of Chris Pratt Mario must have been a joke, I refuse to believe this is the end product.” (sic)
However, not all comments were bad. There was plenty of praise for Black’s Bowser, while others simply noted how “fun” the movie looked.

An upbeat fan said, “You could tell Jack Black put a lot of love and heart into the camper sound, while Chris Pratt was just ah…speak? Kinda weird but the visuals are so great, and I love the overall vibe of it all. I’m excited for Dang Mario’s movie “. (sic)
The outrage followed a video message on Instagram from Pratt last year. He assured his fan base that he was “working hard” on the hero’s voice.

Pratt recently spoke to Variety about the role as well, assuring fans how “different” Mario would sound.
He said, “It’s an animated voice-over narration. It’s not a live-action movie. I wouldn’t wear a plumber’s suit running everywhere. I provide the voice for an animated character, and it’s updated unlike anything I’ve heard in Mario World before.”
Meanwhile, Charles Martinet — the voice of Super Mario from the video games — stars in the Super Mario Bros. movie, but in a currently unnamed role. He is said to play “a number of undisclosed roles” in the film.
The American star has been playing the legendary character since 1996, when he voiced the hero in Super Mario 64.
