White Rabbit, pit fight, possible changes to the title

WWE’s Strict rules Pay per view tonight at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. And while the show is missing a World Championship match, there is still plenty of intrigue as each of the six advertised matches has a violent clause added to it. The biggest will be the Fight Pit, a caged structure previously seen only in NXT, which will pit Matt Riddle against Seth Rollins in a match where the only way to win is by surrender or a knockout. Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier will serve as the special guest referee.

The other big mystery heading into the show is who will be revealed as “The White Rabbit.” All clues point towards the big reveal that will happen tonight, and many of them also support the theory that it’s Bray Wyatt’s return.

But how will the return happen? And who emerges the winner in each match? We’ve once again assembled the ComicBook Team of Wrestling Writers to crack all the big questions and deliver their predictions!

We’re supposed to get some kind of white rabbit reveal. What do you think is happening?

Conor Casey: We’ll get official confirmation that he’s Bray Wyatt, but I don’t expect him to physically appear on the court. If it was just another QR code with more hints, I think fans would be a little disappointed.

Matt Aguilar: I think we’re at least getting a fresh look at Bray Wyatt and his new character, at least in a video if not in person, but the biggest reveal and playback will likely take place in the next episode of Raw. As for who’s coming out against it or how it’s brought up during the show, I don’t have a clue haha.

Charlie Ridley: There’s no doubt at this point that it’s Bray Wyatt, but how they choose to bring up his comeback and what exactly his character is remains a mystery. He will be there in person but I don’t expect anything physical from him. Fingers crossed that he is already working with others, this development could be very interesting.

Nick Valdez: I’m just thinking like a quick glimpse of Titantron or something! Given how long these harassments have already lasted, it’s hard to imagine that this is the end of it. Another two weeks of tangible visual disturbance seems tolerable.

Tim Adams: Bray Wyatt is making his debut in a long time. Triple H has been in an aggressive recruiting group since he officially took control of WWE, bringing back a lot of fan-favorite familiar names. If Braun Strowman is invited back, I don’t see why Bray Wyatt wouldn’t get a similar offer either. Hopefully, Bray’s second assignment in WWE will be more successful than the back end of his last round.

Liv Morgan or Bianca Belair – who will likely drop their title?

Connor: I could see a world where they both lose, but with Liv, that’s more likely. Rousey is already working as a heeler and it still looks like Rousey vs. Becky Lynch who is now a lovable face still seems to be the plan for WrestleMania 39 So at some point you have to get the title back on Ronda and now seems like a good time.

not shiny: This is kind of tricky because I don’t usually bet against Bianca. Bayley just got back, and Damage CTRL already holds some gold, so it would be weird if their leader didn’t have a title. But then, it would be weird for Bianca to give up the title at strict rules and not at one of the Big Four events. As for Liv and Ronda, Ronda’s loss of one title shot flowed nicely into her annoying duel against Chyna, and Liv looked better and better in the role of the underdog. All to say I’m conflicted haha, so I’m going to (flip the coin) with Bayley winning and Bianca losing the title.

Nick: It’s tough because while Bianca will likely have a lower chance of losing overall, being a ladder match adds quite a bit of extra potential. There is plenty of room for intervention of some sort, and it would be nice to have Damage CTRL all the titles for a while to cement them as a faction. For Liv, it’s the same situation where these other factors can now make losing easier. Also, unless you deal with this aggressive force, it will take this loss. Liv needs to keep evolving, and losing here is the perfect way to do that.

Charlie: I’d say Bianca, just because she’s fighting Bayley, but I think they both have a real chance of dropping those titles this weekend. I agree that Liv has to lose to continue building her character, but does it have to be Rhonda?

Tim: Liv Morgan felt like she’d been on a lost time since her nickname started. My only hesitation is regarding Ronda Rousey appearing on a weekly basis to defend the title if she is going to win. WWE may choose to continue pushing Bayley and her new faction, but Bianca Belair has been so dominant that it would be a shame to see her lose her title.

Who wins inside the fighting hole?

nxt-fight-pit-1250366.jpg

Connor: I think Riddle wins, Rollins blames Cormier for the loss, then Rollins wins the United States Championship on Raw and defends it against Cormier on his debut in crown jewel.

not shiny: Riddle has already got one of those under his belt, but it’s hard to bet against Rollins. I will say Rollins comes out as a winner.

Nick: Just give it to Rollins! The last thing he needs to endure is a bunch of losses in a new post-Cody feud!

Charlie: This seems like a situation where the flip finally wins, but I don’t want to. Rollins has to win this one, bro.

Tim: Matt Riddle will get a big bump from defeating Seth Rollins in his most appropriate match. Rollins showed in his feud with Cody Rhodes that he can put a lovable face and still be a threat at the top of the Raw card.

Should AJ Patterns Join Judgment Day?

(Photo: WWE)

Connor: I am all for her. As much as we love styles, they’ve always performed better as heels. Plus, the addition of another former world champion adds even more credibility to the stable Doomsday, which still needs to be considered how often the group loses to pay-per-view. Finally, as a Bullet Club fan, I will always support the idea that they finally pair Styles and Balor together.

not shiny: AJ will probably have fun as part of the group, but won’t lie, the pairing doesn’t really do much for me. I’d rather it be in the title picture or do something else, so I’d say no.

Nick: It seems boring to do that AJ is a major player, so it would be strange to put him as the fifth member of a growing faction. Another person, Rey Mysterio, will likely appear to help him through all of this.

Charlie: Remember when we thought Doomsday was going to be a faction of vampires? Fun times! Outside of the Rhea “Babi” thing, Doomsday is getting old real fast, even if it has put Finn in the spotlight. The group needs to start with subtraction, not addition. Let AJ help tear it down.

Tim: Naima. If anything, AJ and Finn Balor need to have their own faction rather than do their best impersonating the Ministry of Darkness. Plus, we need a good AJ Styles/Finn Balor runner for at least a month or so.

Who needs to win more – Drew McIntyre or Karrion Cross

Connor: Considering it’s my first paid match, I feel Kroos needs it. But at the same time I feel like MacIntyre somehow needs to recover after what happened Clash in the castle. And if we’re being honest, I still wouldn’t buy the Kross gimmick. All the same problems you saw from the NXT tour still remain.

not shiny: At this point, I don’t think Drew McIntyre ever needs to win. He’s close to Teflon, with fans cheering him on and standing behind him regardless of his winning and losing record. On the other hand, Kroos needs a big win or two to strengthen him as a big threat, so I’d say Kroos.

Nick: They both do, so this is tricky. But McIntyre is pretty much unbreakable in terms of wins and losses, so it would make sense for Kroos to need to win more. He’s the one getting the boosts now, and if they want to make up for his last disastrous run with Raw, Kroos needs to come out of this like a major contender.

Charlie: Kroos needs a big win if they are to build it up as a huge name. Drew could lose for weeks and still be thought of as a title contender.

Tim: Drew McIntyre needs to win more, but it’s not like WWE is going to make Carrion Cross look like an idiot on his PPV debut. This was the problem when it was originally called to the main menu in Raw. Mr. “Tik Tok” will likely use some trickery to beat McIntyre, with the feud continuing until the referee raises his arm to McIntyre.

Book me three matches for Crown Jewel plus Reigns vs.

Connor: Rollins vs Cormier, Usos & Solo Sequoia vs The Brawling Bruts, Johnny Gargano vs Austin Theory

not shiny: Carlito vs. Sami Zayn (Why? Just because of the curse). Hit Row vs Bloodline (Usos and Solo Sikoa) and Alexa Bliss vs Bayley

Nick: I like the idea of Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley that Matt stole it. For the other two, Sheamus and Brawling Brutes vs. The Bloodline (Usos and Solo Sikoa), Bobby Lashley vs. Mustafa Ali

Charlie: Santos Escobar vs. Gunter. Dexter Loomis vs. The Miz. Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley.

Tim: CTRL damage vs. the return of Sasha Banks and Naomi, with Bianca Belair; Braun Strowman’s victory in another battle royal, the Austin theory against Johnny Gargano.
