A captivating scene by Olivia Colman – on the set of a sinister mini-film | movies | entertainment

The actress was seen checking out the letter – as co-star Jesse Buckley’s character was pulled over by police – during the filming of Wicked Little Letters.

The period drama is based on a strange true story of a society shaken by a series of anonymous obscene letters filled with expletives.

Local defendant Rose Gooding, played by Jesse, is accused of sending letters and faces who lost her daughter as a result.

A local computer thinks something is wrong and seeks to find the real culprit – with Rose’s devout neighbor Edith Swann, played by Olivia, in the frame.

The cast and crew have taken over the picturesque town of Arundel in West Sussex, which stands near Littlehampton.

The film, scheduled for release next year, is written by Johnny Sweet and directed by Thea Sharrock.

It stars Timothy Spall, Joanna Scanlan, Gemma Jones and Elaine Atkins.

Olivia and Jesse also worked together on The Lost Daughter, a 2021 psychological drama based on the 2006 novel by Elena Ferrante. They both earned Oscar nods for their performances in the film.

Olivia, 48, has become one of the country’s most popular actors, having been nominated for three Oscars in the past four years. She won Best Actress in 2019 for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite.

Jesse, 32, of Killarney, Ireland, was discovered in the I Will Do Anything talent competition in 2008, then starred in Fargo, Chernobyl, and War and Peace.

It was nominated for two Oscars and three BAFTAs. This year she won a Laurence Olivier Award for her role in the West End as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
