Gridlock alert: Temporary lane closures at George Bush Intercontinental Airport to last 4 weeks due to utility work!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Add more time to your flight if you’re flying into George Bush International Airport any time during the next month.

Temporary lane closures due to utility work began on October 10 and are expected to continue over the next four weeks.

Due to the current construction phase of the new international terminal, CenterPoint Energy will relocate and install critical infrastructure to provide power for Terminal D, a new baggage check facility and an inter-terminal tram system.

The closures will be along the North Terminal Road to Terminals C, D and E. Lanes will be closed for approximately four weeks.

This is said to significantly affect traffic congestion, specifically in the afternoon peak times between 5pm and 8pm.

For the safety and experience of passengers, there will be active traffic monitoring, management on the sidewalk and additional officers on site as part of the traffic control.

Houston Airports recommends that travelers prepare for their trip to Busch Airport by planning and using resources such as booking parking in the garage. Those who pick up an oncoming passenger are advised to wait in the designated mobile phone stand until the passenger is on the sidewalk.

The construction at Bosch is part of the IAH plant redevelopment programme. Expected to be completed in late 2024, the airport will be home to the newest and most modern international terminals in the United States.
