House of the Dragon Showrunner comments on Rings of Power Rivalry

It’s a good time to be a fan of fantasy in terms of TV with HBO Game of thrones prefix Dragon House and amazon The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Both air but while there’s been a lot of talk about which show is better or whether one’s popularity hurts the other’s, for House of the Dragon presenter Ryan Condal, there’s no competition between the two series. Condall explained to wrap That, in his view, is that more sci-fi/fantasy on TV is a good thing – and he’s himself a big fan of Tolkien.

“I read Lord of the rings And the Silmarlion And the the hobbit “I’ve grown up many times, and seen Peter Jackson movies multiple times in theaters,” Condall said. “I love all these things, I love high fantasy, and frankly I want to live in a world where there is room for all of these things to exist if they are good. I think the need for more expensive sci-fi/sci-fi on TV is what we geeks all want” .

Condall also said he doesn’t think the two shows represent one rivalry or the other. Condall says he thinks the two shows “feed” each other.

“I don’t think anyone is watching rings of strength I mean, they don’t watch Dragon House“I don’t see it that way,” Condall said. “I see one feeding off the other, and I think the higher the quality of entertainment on TV, the more it attracts a general audience that might not be ready to watch this.”

Of course, there’s also the matter of the two shows, although they are of the same genre, they are completely different – which means they have a different appeal. Jennifer Salk, president of Amazon Studios, said earlier rings of strength won’t be like Game of thrones Nor should you try to be.

“There’s a lot of darkness in the world,” Salk explained. “The tendency to light was the other thing that was really appealing to everyone – bringing something to our global client base that’s hopeful, has light and the family can watch.” diverse.

She added, “A lot of people have grown up with this literature, and we wanted this series to push the new generations of Tolkien fans. The line we use is ‘If you’re old enough to read books, you’re old enough to watch the show.'” We knew from the start that this isn’t Game of Thrones.”
