Spoilers in front of Episode 4 of Chicago BD Season 10, titled “Donde Vives”.
Chicago BD Officially entering the post-Halstead era for season 10, “Donde Vives” was a fast-paced episode that explored Dante Torres and why he is what he is as a cop. A horrific murder of a loved one leads the intelligence unit to Torres’ neighborhood, and he has to try to use his connections with friends and family to solve the case. It was a bit of a mystery for a rookie cop to deal with, and Benjamin Levi Aguilar’s new regular series She spoke to CinemaBlend about Torres’s transformation at the end… and the scenes with Upton that fans couldn’t see.
The episode ends with Torres being threatened that something bad could happen to his mother if they stay in the neighborhood, and the young cop somehow cuts off his badge and pistol in a fight with a man who eventually breaks his restraint. After the brutal beating, it’s safe to say that Torres won that brawl, but it wasn’t a happy ending. Benjamin Levi Aguilar spoke about how different his character was after the end of “Donde Vives,” saying:
While Torres and the rest of the team were able to close the case and get some justice for Brophy, there was some serious collateral damage to the rookie cop and the people he was looking after in the neighborhood. He stayed straight and tight during the investigation (at least by intelligence standards), but the episode wasn’t quite over for him. Follow the actor:
It’s clear that Torres passed the point of no return by the end of “Donde Vives,” and only time will tell if his character will be noticeably different as Season X continues. “Donde Vives” was a Benjamin Levi Aguilar show that filled in a lot of blanks about his character, whose background was only touched upon when Aguilar appeared as a guest star As Halstead’s temporary partner Back in season 9. (You can rewatch that streaming episode with a peacock subscription.)
Of course, Jesse Lee Souffer’s departure means that Torres no longer has Halstead as a mentor who brought him to the intelligence unit, and Benjamin Levi Aguilar has also opened up about How does Halstead’s absence affect Torres?. “Donde Vives” Torres gave at least one small moment with nearly all the cops in intelligence, with Burgess and Rosick giving him some advice while Atwater and Voight were more trained with him. He even had a moment with Platt!
However, it’s worth noting that Torres never had a one-on-one moment with Upton. In fact, most of the unit seems to have given her plenty of space in the wake of her husband’s return to the army Heading to Bolivia. After Torres didn’t get a moment with Upton on this episode, Benjamin Levi Aguilar revealed that there were actual plans for some interactions that didn’t make the end result. When asked if fans can expect some Upton/Torres interactions, the actor shared:
So, Chicago BD They planned some “beautiful moments” for Upton and Torres in the wake of losing the man they both love (in completely different ways), but they never made it to the screen for “Donde Vives.” Aguilar is excited to hopefully get some of those moments with Tracy Spiridakos as Upton, however, fans can cross their fingers until we see them share some scenes as they move forward after Torres’ transformation.
You can look forward to new episodes of Chicago BD On Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC, we expect More than two new characters In the first half of the season.
