Call of Duty rumor sparks surprise 2023 plans

Call of Duty could look very different in 2023. Call of Duty has reliably introduced a new game in the series every year for the past 19 years. Sometimes that comes at the expense of the game’s quality and features, but Activision will bring out the game no matter the cost. It continued to lead in toy sales year in and year out, generating billions of dollars. Each fall, you can count on the new Call of Duty game and a slew of product links across Mountain Dew, Doritos, and other major food brands. However, things may change next year.

In the back of reports that Call of Duty will skip 2023 to allow Treyarch more time to work on its next game, rumors are now suggesting what Activision will do to fill the void. It was recently reported that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II You’ll get both reimagined maps from across the entire franchise to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary and for the first time ever, paid campaign DLC. This information was recently confirmed by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreyer who confirmed that he also heard a roar about the campaign’s downloadable content. Call of Duty campaigns are usually single and completed, with the story continuing loosely through cinematic scenes at the beginning of seasons, but you usually have to wait years to see what comes next in that particular story. However, it seems that Infinity Ward is planning to keep the story of Task Force 141 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II DLC in 2023.

As of now, it’s worth noting that these are common and although they are from reputable sources, plans can change. It is worth taking a grain of salt until it bears fruit. There’s a chance that Activision will change the plan and decide to release a remastered game, forcing Treyarch to release the game in 2023 anyway, or something else. Only time will tell what will happen, but the possibility of a DLC campaign is exciting.
