It’s only been a day since the launch of the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro and there are already complaints from early owners about faulty scrolling on the Pixel 7 Pro.
The screen on top of Google’s trademark is said to have an inconsistent “pin” scrolling experience for some owners.
Users took reddit (Opens in a new tab) To report problems with the new Pixel 7 Pro display and touchscreen. One said that the touchscreen “constantly sticks to the back of your finger when you tap to scroll. Not to mention the massive increase in keyboard sensitivity when typing.” Other Pixel 7 Pro owners have reported that scrolling on the phone’s screen is inconsistent – at some points it moves too fast.
Many have commented on topics on reddit (Opens in a new tab) Report similar issues. The touchscreen issue seems to be more noticeable when compared to older Pixel phones. However, the problem appears to be limited to the Pro unit at the moment.
In my Pixel 7 Pro review unit, I noticed that the touchscreen was sometimes very sensitive and my thumb would accidentally fire something I didn’t mean to. The small, fast movements on the screen were a little choppy and irregular in nature. But these cases were few and far between, and I didn’t notice the same scrolling issue people reported.
Not the first Pixel 7 Pro display issue
This is not the first display issue that has been reported with the Pixel 7 Pro. Recently, it was found that the screen on the Pro consumes a lot more power at higher brightness levels which affects battery life.
The Pixel 7 Pro has a Quad HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A higher refresh rate is likely to be faster when upgrading from an older Pixel device. But that doesn’t explain why they are inconsistent while scrolling.
Fortunately, there could be a solution on the horizon. Some users said that the system update fixed the problem for them, while a few mentioned that the problem seemed to persist even after the update.
Quality control issue
This is not the first time that Google has had problems with its phones right after launch. The Pixel 6 screen was found to flicker when the phone was turned off a few weeks after its launch. The Pixel 6 series also has its fair share of sluggish fingerprint sensor complaints, which the company seems to have now fixed on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The new pixels didn’t perform well in our battery test results either.
To be fair, Apple also dealt with the initial teething issue with the iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 14 Pro camera was discovered to be “knock and shake” in some social media apps, among other issues. Apple has sorted out some of these issues with various updates.
If you have just purchased or are about to buy a new Pixel 7 or 7 Pro – we recommend installing all updates immediately. Once you buy a new Pixel, there’s already an initial update that you’ll need to do during setup.
