Sauron revealed at the conclusion of the Rings of Power

After weeks of warning, Sauron finally revealed himself in an epilogue The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It turns out Sauron has been hiding under our noses the whole time, as Galadriel learned that Halbrand was actually the Dark Lord during last night’s episode. After going to Eregion to heal the elves, Halbrand soon became interested in the Celebrimbor project to use mithril to create a type of artifact that could be used to pass the light of the Simarils to the elves and prevent them from vanishing from Middle-Earth. Halbrand suggests a solution – combine mithril with other metals to form an alloy and then use that new magnified metal to create a crown. Although Halbrand was not called Anatar (the name de Bloom means “Lord of Gifts”, which Sauron used in Cimarillion), He presents this advice as a “gift.”

Galadriel began to doubt when Celebrimbor began describing the power of this proposed crown not as a means of saving elves, but as a powerful weapon that could control the power of the “Invisible World”. This power seemed to match what Adar described as Sauron’s true goal, so Galadriel did more research on the King of the South. I learned that the dynasty of the kings of the Southlands died a thousand years ago and encountered the Halbrands. During a sequence in which Sauron invaded Galadriel’s mind, he notes that it was Galadriel who prompted him to accept the title of king and that he technically never lied about his identity. While Sauron wants to “heal” Middle-earth by controlling it, he offers Galadriel a place by his side as his queen. She declines the offer and when she comes, Halbrand/Sauron is gone and back to Mordor.

However, Halbrand’s help pays off, as Celebrimbor combines a mithril with the dagger of Galadriel (originally owned by her brother Finrod) to create the three rings of power for the elves, untouched by Sauron’s influence.

We’ll have to see how these Elven episodes are used in the fight against Sauron and how Sauron ends up crafting the remaining episodes in the coming seasons. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
