Houston, Texas (KTRK) – As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, ABC13’s Mayra Moreno met a young Latina who was making waves in the podcasting world.
Rita Bautista, founder of Latina Podcasters Network, started her own podcast in 2019 but said when she didn’t see herself reflected in podcast voices, she made a huge leap. She created her network of podcasts Latina.
Cause: She wanted to amplify their voices and draw their attention.

“We’ve worked with Apple to promote the podcast,” Bautista said.
“Apple has a concept right now during Latin Heritage Month; it’s called La Vecindad, so it basically allows you to go to their platform and watch color podcasts.”
“Bilingual podcasts are huge right now,” Bautista said. “People want to be able to hear their stories not only in English but also in Spanish or Spanish, so they feel more connected to the topics that are happening.”
After creating the Latina Podcasters Network and collaborating with Apple and Spotify, the podcasters have been a huge success.
On her page, you can find anything from real Spanish crime to comedy and podcasts that help Latinas learn how to gain financial freedom.
Rita says she is preparing to sign a great mother-daughter duo. More details on that will be available soon.
I gave this advice to others who might want to create their own seating at the table:
“I would urge anyone with an idea or intuition to build something that will allow the voices of others to be raised to do so because there is not enough here for us yet,” she said.
