warning! The following contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season one finale. Read at your own risk!
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law He finished his first season last week with the end of the Super Meta and Bonkers season. The episode introduced a lot, including Marvel Studios’ robotic leader KEVIN (which Kevin Feige apparently agreed with) and a new member of the Hulk family. Despite all that, some may have been wondering where beloved party girl Madison King is. Well, now, model Jessica Gao has given an explanation as to why the fan-favorite character was left out for the finale.
Jessica Gao spoke to TVLine about Strong woman The Season 1 finale conveyed that she realized fans loved Madisynn and likely wanted more of Patty Guggenheim’s character by the end of the season. But unfortunately, due to the logistics of casting, Guggenheim was ultimately unable to participate. Zhao explained:
Series director Kat Cuero also revealed that the final episode was actually the first filmed for the Disney+ series. As mentioned above, at the time, the show hadn’t cast Patti Guggenheim as Madisynn, so there was little chance of her appearing in that latest installment.
If the actress had gotten the role earlier, it is likely that things would have played out differently. Jessica Gao went on to admit that the writers didn’t imagine the character would become so popular, and the producer also shared thoughts on how things would go if she and her team knew how much audience it would take for the new Wong. BFF:
Jessica Gao’s praise may indicate that more could await Madisynn in the MCU, especially if the show returns for another season. Although she didn’t get a scene in the Season 1 finale, she did get enough character development that could cement her foothold in a future season or even in an upcoming Marvel movie. Her unexpected and adorable friendship with Wong may eventually lead to a point where she becomes a regular in the Doctor Strange franchise – and randomly sets off from Kamar-Taj to indulge in TV shows with her favorite Sorceror Supreme or just sip on some vodka mixed with yak milk.
And even if there’s no room for Madisynn in the major MCU, she looks like a character tailored to appear in the future in Strong woman. Given the meta nature of the show, if she appears blue again, Jen can just look into the camera and say, “Hey, I wanted it back” before the story continues. (The show really thrived at that when explaining the situation with the Hulk’s human form.) I’m sure the show’s creative team could come up with a clever way to get Patty Guggenheim back into the fold. I hope she returns somehow — and that the show is actually renewed for a second season.
Anyone with a Disney+ subscription can stream the first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law If they haven’t already done so. And be on the lookout for other upcoming Marvel TV shows.
