Like a dragon, says the producer

The Straw Hat Pirates have navigated their way to countless video games over the years, with piece The franchise is set to release a new entry next year thanks to One Piece: Odyssey. Thanks to creator Eiichiro Oda’s Shonen franchise, the series continues to influence both animation and video games alike, with the producer behind Sega’s Yakuza series revealing that Monkey D. Luffy and his crew have had the most influence on the latest yakuza Entry, Yakuza: Like a dragon.

yakuza It’s been a long series for Sega, with the franchise starting in 2005 and spanning across multiple generations of consoles. While the series was much more realistic than the Straw Hat Pirates’ high seas adventure, like a dragon Definitely take the opportunity to delve deeper into the craziest and most brutal aspects of the series, thanks in part to the imagination of protagonist Ichiban Kasuga.

Yakuza: Like Luffy

In an interview with IGNProducer Masayoshi Yokoyama spilled the beans on previously undisclosed information when it comes to the origins of his latest Yakuza entry, revealing just how much of an impact piece Was in the video game:

“I haven’t really talked about this before, so I’m not sure if I should go for it now, but for [Like a Dragon] I was really, really inspired by One Piece. For me, Ichiban is basically Luffy. And around him there is Zoro and Nami and the rest of the party. The One Piece Party Formation was on my mind so much while writing that it had a tremendous impact.”

Even Yokoyama takes it one step further and shows how he felt he was about to make piece When it comes to expanding the world of video games that focus on the unnatural foundation of Japanese criminal organizations:

“This is certainly not official, but in my heart, [Like a Dragon] It was basically my perfect version of what would be Yakuza: One Piece. That’s how I got the inspiration to make it happen.”
