With the movie’s release date fast approaching, The Rock’s dream is finally coming true. The actor proved the importance of acting because he saw himself in the DC antihero. Johnson talked about how seeing Black Adam on the cover of comics was a game-changer for him as a kid.

As a child, The Rock spent his youth on the move due to his father Rocky Johnson’s wrestling career, so he found solace in the DC character who grew up as a DC fan. As with most fans, Johnson grew up loving the Justice League, but found the DC Universe to have more interesting characters to offer. We also wanted to build the DC Universe. I was a fan of DC, back when I was a little boy I was a fan of it. I loved Superman, he was my favorite growing up. But I didn’t know until I saw the first Black Adam comic, when I saw the Black Adam comic, he was intense, he looked badass, and he had brown skin. And I thought, ‘Wait a minute, that’s me. I want to be that guy.
