Two years ago, Armie Hammer was a major star in Hollywood whose future seemed to be getting brighter. Unfortunately, the career of the actor is basically over. After accusations of sexual misconduct, Hammer withdrew from all the films he was planning to produce and had to earn money elsewhere. And now his financial problems appear to be getting worse as Hummer is being sued by American Express.
TMZ Reports indicate that the credit card giant has sued Hammer over the giant’s unpaid balance of $67,000. It’s unclear exactly how long Hammer held the balance, but it sure took a long time for Amex to decide that filing a lawsuit was the necessary step to take, which meant other collection methods failed.
The account appears to be the one that Armie Hammer and his estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers tied together, so it’s possible that they both owe any credit to some degree. The account appears to be one of the many things that has to be dealt with as part of the divorce proceedings currently underway between the spouses, so this seems to explain why it hasn’t been paid. It is unlikely that either party would look forward to paying the bill if it thought the other should.
While it’s perhaps understandable why Armie Hammer and his wife would still set up personal details before handling an American Express balance, that doesn’t mean the credit card company would be willing to wait to let them know things. Divorces can last for years, as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have shown us. It may take some time before a decision for this account can be agreed upon by the parties to the divorce. In the end this lawsuit may force the case.
In January 2021 a series of sexually explicit texts surfaced, including suggestions of cannibalistic desires, which Hammer allegedly sent to someone who was not his wife. The couple is now going through a divorce.
Following this revelation, Hammer withdrew from many of the film projects he was associated with, and other films he had already made such as Kenneth Branagh. Death on the Nile He greatly underestimated his participation. At this point, it’s not clear if no one is interested in hiring Hammer, or whether Hammer has pulled himself out of acting, but it amounts to the same bottom line.
Last summer, it was reported that Hammer was selling his timeshare system in the Cayman Islands as a way to make money now that his Hollywood career, at least for now, appears to be over. This may also be part of the reason the credit card bill has become such a part of the divorce battle that Hammer is reported to have run out of money.
