Warning: SPOILERS for black Adam ahead!
Editing trailers is a beautiful art and science. You want to include enough footage to entice people to watch the movie in question, but to the point that any big moments spoil ahead of time. Unfortunately, black Adam He ended up finding himself in the latter category, as Dwayne Johnson’s latest movie spoiled one of the big twists in the first trailer, which really is a huge shame.
the first black Adam The trailer dropped back in June, sparking excitement about the title character’s origin, his clash with the Justice Society of America and how he had a choice to either save the world or have its destroyer before him. Give the trailer a watch below, and for those of you who have seen it black Adam You’ll know right away what I’m talking about.
With that covered, let’s delve into the information included in a file black Adam The trailer that would have hit a lot more had it been left out of the preview and saved for the movie itself. Here’s the final one SPOILER WARNING For those of you who have come this far, but haven’t seen the movie yet.
Like its comic book counterpart, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam was originally Teth Adam, a slave who has lived in Kahndaq for thousands of years. As Teth Adam explains in the first black Adam Trailer, he dies, but thanks to his son’s sacrifice, he is reborn with amazing powers, and now he kneels before anyone. It’s a tragic cause, but there’s definitely more to the story than was shown in the trailer, right? Well, yes, but it all eventually leads to this aberration that is already spoiled.
as a start black Adam, we see a young boy in 2600 BC standing up to the tyrannical rule of King Ahk-Ton, who was forcing the Kahndaq people to excavate Eternium so he could make the crown of Sabacc. After the boy’s attempt to start a rebellion failed, he was nearly executed, but was saved at the last moment by the Council of Wizards, who inherited the boy’s Shazam powers. With his newfound strength, this boy becomes a great hero and, after thousands of years, is remembered for killing Akh-Tun and freeing his people from enslavement.
But guess what, guys? Black Adam is not that boy! Yes, I know you saw this coming, but bear with me. Before this boy was captured by the soldiers of King Akh Tun, he was seen talking with his father, who tried to dissuade his son from being a hero because there were enough heroes buried in the land of Kandak. After the boy became a Kahndaq hero with superhuman strength and Akh-Ton realized that he could not kill this opponent through traditional methods, he sent his soldiers to kill the boy’s mother and father. Upon returning home and seeing his parents dead, the boy transferred his powers to his father to revive him, and once in his mortal form, he was quickly killed by the assassins of Ton’s brother. So all this time, Black Adam was actually the father of Horot, not Horot himself, aka the person chosen by the Council of Witches to exercise these powers.
if you enter black Adam Without having seen the first trailer for the DC movie, this reveal may have taken you by surprise, but that’s not the point. A plot twist of this sort is not something that should be formally shared with the public months beforehand under any circumstances unless there is a larger development to follow. But as I already said, there was no such thing. After Teth Adam inherited the powers of Horot and wept over the corpses of his son and wife, he flew to the palace of Aku Tun to kill the king and his soldiers, and in turn destroyed the palace inadvertently. So the Black Adam has indeed freed the Kandaks, but not in pursuit of justice, but simply as a byproduct of his revenge. As a result, the council of witches deemed Teth Adam undeserving and imprisoned him in the rock of eternity (apparently a paraphrase of what we learned about the character in Shazam!).
Wading in black Adam, I wondered if there was more to Hurut sacrificing his life for the Teth Adam than was allowed in the trailer. For example, in the New 52 continuity, Billy Batson learns that Black Adam was once the uncle of Aman, the hero of the original wizard Shazam. Aman shared some of his power with Teth Adam when he was injured while escaping from slavery, but Adam wanted this power to kill their former slaves rather than cleanse their souls, which is what Aman wanted to do. So the next time Aman summoned magical lightning, an uncle apparently killed his nephew and let the lightning strike him, causing him to turn into a black Adam. would black Adam Movie go that far?
The more I thought about it, the more I realized there was no chance in hell that Dwayne Johnson would agree to play the child killer, but I nonetheless hoped that the death of Teth Adam’s son was more than meets the eye. Alas, that was not the case, and the unfortunate thing is that this could have been easily avoided. Instead of Teth Adam telling his tragic past in… black Adam Alternatively, we could have had audio clips from other characters in the movie about the legend of Black Adam, i.e. talking about how he is a beloved symbol of the Kahndaqi people, but there are countless details about his legend that are not known to the public. This could easily have shown how much more ruthless Black Adam is than your traditional superhero.
There are a few black Adam The twists were fortunately kept a secret prior to the movie’s release, but it’s unfortunate that the death of Teth Adam’s son wasn’t one of them. even in case black AdamThe final credits scene was leaked early on, and that was due to outside interference rather than a conscious advertising decision, although DC oddly enough decided to officially confirm Superman’s participation just hours before the film’s wide opening. despite, black Adam It’s now showing in theaters, and with time there will be enough people to check it out without seeing any of the trailers, TV ads, etc. I hope to see what happens to Hurut will surprise them.
While black Adam Getting more negative ratings than positive reviews, it got off to a solid start with its Thursday night opening and rose to number one at the box office last weekend. So count on seeing more of Dwayne Johnson’s work on the character in the coming years, which CinemaBlend will write about along with our coverage of all the upcoming DC movies.
