WWE has welcomed some surprising athletes to its roster recently, so there’s almost no one who would ever appear or be officially named on TV or pay-per-view. With that, I doubt many fans expected AJ Styles to refer to ex-star James Ellsworth at the same time as Dominic Mysterio. Ellsworth caught the mention and responded on social media in a rather hilarious manner.
For wrestling fans who missed the clip, AJ Styles couldn’t keep his mouth shut after Dominic Mysterio proudly declared himself this generation’s version of Eddie Guerrero. Styles had to let Rey Mysterio’s son know not only that he falls short of the late Guerrero, but that it’s actually James Ellsworth of his generation. Ellsworth, who had consistently demonstrated during his stint in the mid-2010s that he knew how to convey and communicate humor, knew exactly what he had to say. Twitter reply:

The two had a memorable feud in 2016 as Ellsworth—a seemingly weak and inexperienced independent wrestler—continued to outdo Styles in matches due to interference from other stars or sheer luck. This eventually led to Ellsworth being presented as an upstart, so much so that he defied Styles for the WWE title. Styles accepted, and after a one-minute squash match, Styles retained his role as champion.
In James Ellsworth’s kayfabe mind, of course, he’s still on par with everyone else, so this is definitely the wrestler knocking her down in character rather than actual rage. Could WWE really seek to welcome James Ellsworth back into the fold in the future? I’m sure they’ll be planning sooner rather than later Centered on Cody Rhodes Or keep the slot open in case Randy Orton returns sometime soon (though Orton’s return seems unlikely). With that said, it would be funny if Ellsworth re-emerged after being called up in the coming weeks for a part at least once, just to remind fans of one of WWE’s slickest stories from the relatively recent past.
Hey, he can even join the ranks of constantly challenging workers Braun Strowman recently returned Most recently, which would lead to a cute little call-up for the debut that eventually led to his signing.
WWE does a lot of Great things with their story Lately, if James Ellsworth is somehow in the mix regarding one of the rest Upcoming WWE Events In 2022, I will trust the process and see what happens. With that said, I don’t think fans should hold their breath hoping he’s actually back, but it was nice to see AJ Styles give him a shout-out to remind the wrestling world of him in the same way.
