Spoilers are waiting for episode 100 of the residentcalled “for better or for worse”.
the resident He officially hit a milestone that many TV shows didn’t come close to: 100 episodes. The show survived everything from the departure of the leading lady to COVID creating production challenges, and “For Better or Worse” was a celebration of what made the show run so long with some high stakes. Between a girl who needs a liver several She struggles to find financing for Chastain, and the clock is running out before the wedding bell Still stuck in surgery, there were a lot of errors. In the end, however, the resident It surprised me in some good ways. The ending was…happy!
You’ve probably watched a lot of medical dramas (and one recently Kind of call me for that), but with all the plot threads hanging around for most of the hour, I was expecting at least one of them to end in tragedy. Even when everything was so quiet in the final moments of “for better or worse”, a part of me expected something bad to happen at the last second to cause all sorts of complications for Episode 101. and beyond. So what are all the dangling threads with potentially disastrous decisions, which still often end up just fine?
Kit and Bell were pulled away from their wedding
If there’s one thing that applies to TV as a whole, it’s that weddings rarely go unhindered, and the resident He didn’t let Kate and Bill get through the rehearsal before she had to get a call from the governor’s office and had to go back to Chastain with Konrad To try to treat the daughter of a potential donor. Throw in some lost baggage, surgery with fatal complications, hours are ticking away, and it seems like the most happy couple can hope for is a few more people staying up late at night.
But weddings happened, and almost everyone who planned to attend made them! kid She decided to skip the wedding so she would be there for a little patient she might need when she wakes up, but everyone was on hand and full of smiles as Kate and Bill walked down the aisle together, with Jake On hand to manage his ex-stepfather’s wedding (and sing a wonderful performance of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” at the reception). Crises were not completely avoided, but the wedding prevailed!
Critical patients both survived
The medical risks in “For better or for worse” were high enough when the only person whose life was in danger was a young girl who could only communicate through sign language; The situation was getting worse in young people the abovemother Tracy She learned that she could not safely donate her liver due to a previously undiagnosed heart condition. Max had no hope of acquiring a UNOS liver in time, so – against his better judgment – AJ He agreed to extract the lobe with Sullivan Planning to have the transplant.
And between falling into a heart attack with no time to break her chest Tracy and Sullivan injects himself with drugs Before the surgery (which I escalated because of it), I really believed that either mother or daughter was doomed. But Bill managed to block through Tracy’s belly who was in awe of AJ, and night He was on hand to help save Max’s life. They are both alive, and I’m not saying I cried when Max woke up and said “thank you” after Kidd gave her the good news, but it got a little dusty in the living room.
Chastain might get her funded
Perhaps some potentially good news came from Tracy and Max’s nearly death: Thanks to the tireless work of Chastain’s doctors, both mother and daughter survived…and Tracy has more reasons than ever to donate money to the hospital. This isn’t necessarily enough to save them from becoming – in Kate’s words – a “third-rate hospital” in light of state budget cuts, but it sure will help!
And even Kate has made some progress, although she still hasn’t been able to meet the governor. After getting an escape from his office, I took the issue to Twitter, then to local news with some help from adorable sublime, who came to the camera to share her story of how Chastain saved her. It was enough for Kate to at least meet the Governor, which is a lot more than she had at the beginning of the episode!
Billy and Conrad had a beautiful moment… without limits
Although Konrad and Billy She was far from most episode 100, she spent the day helping out GG Find a replacement dress for the flower girl after calling Conrad back to Chastain. While his relationship with Kidd It looks like it’s still going strong And so nice on the whole, he realizes at the wedding that he doesn’t thank Billy enough for what you’re doing for him and Gigi. While they were dancing, she said it was nothing because she liked both, and the two doctors became more comfortable with each other.
And as much as I’ve been on Bailey’s team in general since last season, I’ve had a few moments in awe of someone crossing a line and turning love triangle background Its a real problem. Conrad is with Kidd, and they really care about each other. If anything happens with Billy, it has to happen when neither of them are related to anyone else. Fortunately, it turned out to be just a beautiful friendship moment between them, even if there were some unspoken feelings.
Basically, except for Sullivan who ramped up his drug use to steal injectable painkillers before undergoing surgery, it was “for better or worse” a celebration of the resident Personalities. nick Until I got a sign, which I felt was right – after all, Emily VanCampShe’s been a character who’s been part of the winning prescription in medical dramas for years Guest appearance at the end of season 5 It was a poignant way to pave the way for Season 6.
keep listening to the resident Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox to see what the show has in store after episode 100, and re-watch previous episodes streaming with Hulu اشتراك subscription.
