as such the walking Dead Closer than ever to the final episode (at least of the main series, if not its various projects), the characters are preparing for what is supposed to be a fatal and explosive outcome. Not fatal to everyone, of course, like fans I already realize Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan is heading out To the pastures of the island pop up The Walking Dead: The Dead City. The one whose fate remains unknown is Ezekiel who ousted cancer, and the one who wasn’t happy to see Negan survive and thrive is star Khari Payton, whose character highlighted verbal weapons in the final episode, “Outpost 22.”
In the installment, the former leader of the kingdom finds himself in front of Negan working in a Commonwealth labor camp, and while the JDM’s reformed villain might think everything was swept under the rug with the king, that certainly wasn’t the case. Ezekiel expressed his constant dissatisfaction with Negan’s treatment of his melt-faced followers, his harem wives, and people he killed from other communities. Like, oh I don’t know, Glenn Rhee. Payton was pumped to be the one who put Negan in his hideous place from the inside When asked if he was satisfied at that moment:
Oh, sure. definitely. And Jeff knows this about me. I’ve always been to the “Fuck Negan” camp. Fuck this guy. I’ve always been there, no matter how I feel about Jeff. I remember when these T-shirts were printed, “Don’t bring a bat to a cat fight.” We sold a bunch of those T-shirts to charity and he hated those damn things. And I loved him because I was like, “Yeah, man. I love you, Jeff, but damn that guy. I don’t care how long he’s been. He needs a reminder of everything he’s done. The fact that you’re incredibly charismatic and filthy, means nothing to me.”
Khary Payton may love and respect Jeffrey Dean Morgan himself, but seeing him on a daily basis as Negan is a brutal reminder of the character’s first and second seasons on the show. and while the walking Dead He’s had some winning moves turning him from evil to good, and it’s possible that Negan can’t do anything that will wipe his slate completely clean as Ezekiel, Maggie, and others worry. Even Hershel had a mind to put a bullet in a dude, and that rifle recoil would likely have messed up this little guy’s arm.
While Payton may be as much a fan of JDM as anyone, the actor clearly enjoys flirting with his grizzly star when possible, even when he’s not directly urging him with T-shirt messages. The young justice The star said he also enjoys hitting Morgan because he was put out due to bad weather. In his words:
I’ve always been on the Screw Negan team. A pleasure sitting there, especially because I love working with Jeff. Jeff – especially when it’s cold and nasty – is Mr. Pumpkin Spice Latte, the damned can’t stand the cold. It’s like [JDM impression] “Damn that, man.” And I love giving it to him. I’m like, ‘Can’t you take it?’ Come on boy. whats your problem?’
No doubt many fans were happy to hear that Ezekiel was finally the one who put Negan in his shoes because of his violent and tyrannical rule over the Saviors. He may be a happy husband and a happy father after so many years, but he deserves to know daily that his past actions are still on the minds of those around them. I don’t think Ezekiel, Maggie, or anyone else would kill Annie as a revenge plot, but it seems that the story of redemption is far from over.
